This week, Caroline (Beth Behrs) puts her body on the line to raise money for her jail-bird father when Max (Kat Dennings) convinces her to partake in a clinical drug trial.

8:00pm Wednesday, May 9 on TV2

Warning – dangerous curves ahead! Stiffler’s Mom aka Jennifer Coolidge (American Pie) joins the cast of 2 Broke Girls this week on TV2.

Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs) are suspicious of the new upstairs neighbour, Sophie (Coolidge), who moves in after the old tenant dies.

Sophie, who is a glamorous Polish house cleaner, was based on Coolidge’s own former cleaning lady.

She revealed to the Panel on CBS’ The Talk that just like her character, Coolidge’s cleaner would come to work done up to the nines with full make-up regalia, not a hair out of place and dripping in diamonds – which seemed somewhat ironic when contrasted with her profession.

“I love that somehow I get channel her,” she said. “She just made vacuuming look so good.”

US TV network CBS has announced it’s official list of what shows will be renewed and there are some big name shows missing from the list. Namely 2 and a Half Men.

Apparently Warner Bros are in preliminary negotiations regarding ordering more seasons. As Chuck Lorre said earlier this week, “It’s unusual when they cancel a show that’s in the Top 10, so I think there’s hope… [but] everybody’s gotta sign back up” — namely, Ashton Kutcher.

Also missing from the list are Unforgettable, Rules of Engagement, A Gifted Man, CSI:NY and CSI: Miami.

Here are the official renewed shows

2 Broke Girls
The Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
Mike & Molly

Blue Bloods
Criminal Minds
The Good Wife
Hawaii Five-0
The Mentalist
NCIS: Los Angeles
Person of Interest

48 Hours Mystery
60 Minutes
The Amazing Race
Undercover Boss

Will Angelina Jolie be on Ryan Murphy’s – American Horror Story ?

American Horror Story is going after Angelina Jolie… sort of.

Ryan Murphy & Co. have quietly begun casting a major new Season 2 arch nemesis for Jessica Lange — and they’re using one of Jolie’s most famous movie roles as their template.

The series regular character, Gia, is described as a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret — “think Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted,” reads the casting notice. As such, interested actresses should be in their mid-20s and Caucasian. Intrestingly Jolie also played the lead role of Gia in the telemovie about a supermadel of the same name and won an Emmy.

Production on Horror Story‘s second season doesn’t get underway in mid-July, so producers are giving themselves ample time to find the right performer for the plum part. I really can’t see the enigmatic Jolie heading to TV can you?

2 Broke Girls to Get Cameo from Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart is making a cameo on 2 Broke Girls.

The domestic diva will play herself in an upcoming episode of CBS’ rookie hit.

In the episode, Max and Caroline plan to crash a big event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art  that Stewart is scheduled to attend. Their mission: Get the legendary tastemaker to give their cupcakes the seal of approval.

Glee to do Whitney Tribute!

Though Glee has honored the late Whitney Houston with a timely cover of “I Will Always Love You,” it has been confirmed that New Directions will once again and more purposefully celebrate the musical icon this season with one of its signature tribute episodes.

First reported by E! Online, the drama is currently in production on the special installment that centers on the growing pains of Glee‘s graduating seniors. “It’s using Whitney’s music as a way to say goodbye,” a source tells the site. “A way to respectfully say ‘thank you’ for her music.”

Whitney Houston passed away February 11th 2012

Jon Cryer to put himself up for Best Actor Emmy rather than Supporting?

After six consecutive years of vying in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy race, Two and a Half Men‘s Jon Cryer reportedly will submit himself in the lead category at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

As noted by the Gold Derby awards-centric website, which first reported on the change-up, both Cryer (whose camp would not confirm the move) and then-costar Charlie Sheen submitted for Lead Actor during the first two years of Men‘s run, but with zero success. After Cryer downshifted to the supporting race starting in 2006, he netted a supporting nod every single year, while Sheen went on to amass four lead nods. Winning!

With Sheen “moved on” now, and the supporting comedy actor race as competitive as ever (thanks to the Modern Family men) — and, as Gold Derby points out, both Steve Carell (gone from The Office) and Matt LeBlanc (Episodes is not eligible this year) out of the mix, Cryer’s move seems prudent.

Is he strong enough to compete against other possible nominees including co-star Ashton Kutcher, in a show that is steadily declining?

8:00pm Wednesday, February 22 on TV2

TV2’s hilarious new comedy 2 Broke Girls continues tonight, with the girls tying their hand at thrift store shopping to save a couple of bucks.

The show centres around Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs), two girls in the same situation but from very different backgrounds. Max was born poor, so the current financial desperation is not new to her. Caroline however, was born into money, so has a lot to learn about slumming it in Brooklyn.

Tonight, to help her in her new predicament, Max introduces Caroline to the art of thrift store shopping which takes a dangerous turn when a battle erupts over a t-shirt.

8:00pm Wednesday, February 8 on TV2

A lot of young girls move to New York City to “make it.” Max and Caroline are just trying to make their rent when the brand new 2 Broke Girls premieres tonight on TV2.

In this fun, outrageous comedy series written by Emmy Award-winner Michael Patrick King (Sex And The City) and white-hot stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings, two girls from very different backgrounds – Max, poor from birth, and Caroline, born wealthy but down on her luck – wind up as waitresses in the same colorful Brooklyn diner and strike up an unlikely friendship that could lead to a successful business venture. All they need to do is come up with $250,000 in start-up expenses.

Starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, 2 Broke Girls infuses the classic comedy with something new, current and young, proving life can be fun – even if you’re broke.

Following on from last night’s post about the new shows coming to TV One, here’s what’s instore for TV2 in 2012.

First off, a rebrand.  If my assumptions are correct, think the TV One logo but take the “One” out of the circle and put the current “2” inside it.  This would certainly bring some consistency between the channels.

Shortland Street will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2012 while Go Girls will be back for a fourth season.  The trailer shows Kevin returning from Thames to tell the girls that he thinks he’s just left his wife.  Considering Zoe Cramond (Amanda) is now a regular on Packed to the Rafters in Australia, that’s probably why.

TV2 seemed to be a bit light on the big new dramas to fill the gaps of final seasons of Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy but there are some good new shows in there. Continue reading »
