Alec Baldwin stars in 3’s new award-winning comedy

Sunday, July 15th at 8pm

Former Saturday Night Live head writer Tina Fey writes, executive-produces and stars alongside Academy Award-nominee Alex Baldwin in 3’s irreverent, wildly funny workplace comedy 30 Rock, screening Sunday, July 15th at 8pm.

Emmy Award-winner Fey stars as writer Liz Lemon in 30 Rock (short for 30 Rockerfeller Plaza, New York City) set behind-the-scenes of a live variety show.

The show is told through the comedic voice of Fey and features the inimitable Baldwin as Jack Donaghy, the brash network executive who turns Liz’s show (and life) upside down with his meddling ways.

Emmy Award-winner Fey was just honoured by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg with a Made in New York Award, honouring those who have made significant contributions to the Big Apple’s entertainment industry.

“I wanted it to seem like a show that my character had created that has a sort of feminine sensibility about it so that when Alec’s character, and Tracy’s character invaded it, you could get the sense that it was this male presence coming in and taking over,” says Fey.

Baldwin, who won a Golden Globe for his hilarious role on 30 Rock, is no stranger to Saturday Night Live comedy, having done some of his best work on SNL, which he has hosted 12 times.

Fey took a big risk leaving the stability of Saturday Night Live, but needed to test herself in the crowded television comedy market.

“There are so many new shows on TV and you’ll never know what’s going to happen but it times out well because it was an appropriate time for me to leave SNL anyway. I felt, you know, like a senior who – it was time to graduate.”

Tune in to the premiere of the 3’s hilarious new comedy 30 Rock, which has won a Golden Globe and been nominated for a People’s Choice Award, screening Sunday, July 15th at 8pm.

30 Rock

This brand new comedy that’s just started in the US is about single comedy writer Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) living every comedy writer’s dream – head writer on a demanding, live TV variety program in New York City, which stars one of her closest friends, the sweet, but self absorbed Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski).

Her world is turned upside down when brash new network executive Jack Donaghy (omg it’s Alec Baldwin!) interferes with her show and staff, and bullies Lemon into convincing Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) a wild and unpredictable movie star, to join the cast.

Donaghy encourages Lemon to get to know Jordan before she rejects him outright, and in an attempt to spend quality time with him, she finds herself swept up with him and his entourage in some unlikely places and positions.

The show is full of Saturday Night Live actors, so it’s bound to be funny.
