amazon-firetvYesterday we mocked Variety for their April Fools gag about an Amazon set top box that was also a drone.  Today, part of that is now a reality with the arrival of their new set top box, FireTV.

There has been rumour and speculation for quite some time that this was coming but it certainly looks cooler than what I was expecting.  What will be interesting is if it, like Kindle, will become available here and if it will include services like Quickflix, TVNZ on Demand and 3Now.

I hate the first of April.  With the decline in media, finding real and actual news can be hard enough as it is.  Occasionally you’ll get a good gag that is memorable but many of them are lame attempts at trying to be funny.  Other times, people don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re trying to fool you.  Like this from Variety today.
