NZ Premiere: Barbarians
The History Channel – Mondays from 16 April, 11.30pm

From the 9th Century BC through the 14th Century AD, Europe, Asia and Africa were besieged by various barbarian hordes…tribes of violent, brutish men thundering across the horizon on horseback, battleaxes at the ready. Who were these barbarians who lived and died by the sword, seemingly devoted only to violence, conquest and destruction? Shot in film on location in Europe and Asia, the series will focus on four Barbarian hordes: the Huns, the Mongols, the Vikings and the Goths, examining not only their violent conquests but also their cultures, leaders, enemies, and role in shaping world history.
