Bonnie, the youngest person in the Big series, tries to turn her life around in the series season finale, screening on Thursday, July 14 th at 7:30pm on 3. Twenty-two-year-old Bonnie is the youngest person in the Big series. But even at that tender age she’s managed to weigh in at 144 kilos. She lives in Adelaide with her very thin best friend Laura. They are very close and have a history of partying and drinking, but now this lifestyle has caught up with Bonnie and she wants to change her life. She’s sick of being the butt of people’s fat jokes and the one at the night club that no-ones asks for her number. Bonnie is addicted to junk food and has never exercised. After her initial weigh-in with trainer Lee Campbell she is focused and ready to go. No more late nights, no more snacking on kebabs. But it’s not long before this creates great friction in her relationship with Laura who still wants to party and eat takeaway pizza at home.
Lee has set her a simple exercise target of running around her local football field in a specified time, a goal she fails. After a tearful confession that she’s not been trying hard enough, Bonnie decides to make a radical change in her life.
She doesn’t feel that Laura is supporting her so she leaves home and heads for Sydney to be closer to Lee. Away from home she’s still finding it very tough to lose the weight. As part of her new life, Lee organises Bonnie to try out for the local rugby team as a way of making sure she has at least one weekly training session. Despite a slow weight loss, Bonnie still needs a stronger influence on her life so Lee organises a month-long stay at On Track, a weight loss clinic in the picturesque Blue Mountains, outside Sydney. But will this stint in a specialist clinic finally do the trick? Find out in the Big season finale, screening on Thursday, July 14 th at 7:30pm on 3.
