Blake’s 7

Blake's 7Classic BBC sci-fi series Blake’s 7 is getting rebooted.

The series, which ran from 1978 to 1981, will make a comeback with 13 new episodes thanks to FremantleMedia and American network Syfy.

New Zealand director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) will direct while Heroes and CSI writer Joe Pokaski will deliver the script.

An official press release says:

A revolutionary reinvention of the long-running BBC series made in the late 1970s, Blake’s 7 tells the story of seven criminals – 6 guilty and 1 innocent – on their way to life on a prison colony in space, who together wrestle freedom from imprisonment. As a child there were a number of shows that my brothers and I would watch and look forward to. Knight Rider, MacGyver, Battlestar Galactica, The Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPs and Quantum Leap.  But the one that we’d act out at the local park, and was our favourite, was Blakes7.  So it is with much excitement that I’ve learnt that SyFy is to develop a remake of the cult UK series.
