Series 2

UKTV – Wednesdays from 18 June, 8.30pm

Tense, gripping and scarily unsettling, this critically acclaimed medical drama returns for another powerful and emotional series. Following the dramatic conclusion of Series 1, Rob Lake’s future at the hospital now lies in the hands of Hurley. If Hurley is to succeed as Clinical Director of the hospital – fast rising from the ranks of its 3 star status – he needs the best medics around him. Luckily for Rob, his face seems to fit, but when sheer determination and ambition wear thin, where do his allegiances lie? Can he justify being the hypocritical nail in the coffin for one of the Consultants? Will he do to someone else what he saw done to Maria Orton when she tried to blow the whistle? Bodies is not about glamorous, heroic doctors and nurses, but about real people doing a sometimes impossible job.
Starring: Max Beesley (Hustle and Hotel Babylon), Neve McIntosh (Doc Martin and Trial & Retribution), Patrick Baladi (The Only Boy For Me and The Office), Keith Allen (Loving You and 24 Hour Party People), Tamzin Malleson (Teachers and Always and Everyone).

UKTV – Wednesdays from 7 May, 9.35pm

The ultimate antidote to hospital drama.
Raw, edgy, intense and darkly humorous, Bodies is not about glamorous, heroic medics, but about real people doing a sometimes impossible job. Written by a former physician, this is a world of raunchy but exhausted doctors, professional jealousies, bureaucratic bungling, surgical incompetence, terrible tragedies and cynical cover-ups. When Rob Lake begins work in a maternity unit, he soon comes to suspect that his new boss, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Roger Hurley, may be incompetent. He tries to turn a blind eye, but one of Hurley’s blunders leads to a young mother being left brain-damaged and her baby stillborn. Rob watches a fellow doctor being hounded for attempting to bring the incompetence to light, seeing the ranks of the establishment join together to protect one of their own. He realises he must risk his career to put a stop to Hurley’s negligence.
Starring: Max Beesley (Hotel Babylon and Fields of Gold), Patrick Baladi (Grafters and The Office).

Bodies – The Finale
Tuesday 7 August, 11.10pm

‘Bodies – The Finale’ is the climactic special of the critically acclaimed, award-winning series (tonight at 11.10pm on TV ONE). Rob Lake’s (Max Beesley, ‘Hotel Babylon’) life has changed beyond recognition since he fought to prevent patients coming to harm at the hands of his incompetent boss, Roger Hurley (Patrick Baladi, ‘The Office’).

Now, Rob is making a fresh start with a new job as a consultant and is expecting a baby with registrar Polly Grey (Tamzin Malleson, ‘Teachers’). However, it’s not long before Hurley resurfaces – with a police caution, a broken marriage, and the same medical skills – and Rob must confront his nemesis one last time.
In its two previous series, ‘Bodies’ was praised by critics for its dark and cynical portrayal of the health service, where negligent doctors make fatal mistakes and even the good guys aren’t always squeaky clean. This 90-minute special from series creator Jed Mercurio ties up all the loose ends from the second series.

I like a range of US, UK, NZ and sometimes Aus TV shows. But the list on this website under the “Shows” section favours US TV shows more than anything and maybe NZ after that. Why aren’t more UK shows listed. I am enjoying New Sreet Law. Some good characters, ethical dilemmas, repartee etc. Kind of like The Practice but less romanticised and more down to earth characters. Bodies was great – very gritty and critical of the UK health service.

Why aren’t more UK shows listed on this site?
