It was another record breaking week for TV3’s new early morning program as Paul Henry saw the average audience lift 15% last week to 79,272 viewers per day between 7am and 9am.

Thursday’s program saw the show hit an all-time high with an average audience between 7am and 9am of 97,490 viewers. This resulted in the separation between Paul Henry and Breakfast being less than 15,000 – the closest the two audiences have ever been.

Nadine Chalmers-Ross

Nadine Chalmers-Ross will co-host Breakfast while Ali Pugh is on maternity leave.

The ONE News and Breakfast presenter will join Rawdon Christie on the Breakfast couch from Monday.

Paul Henry was back over 60,000 last week with his average audience up 3% to 61,212 viewers each morning between 7am and 9am despite having two days dip below 50,000. This was the first time this has happened since mid July.

It was a reverse of trends compared to the previous week as Paul Henry dropped as Breakfast built. TV3’s early morning news program was down 13% to an average audience of 59,620 viewers between 7am and 9am while TV One increased their average audience by 10% to 131,220.

If there is anything that will be providing hope at TV3 it’s that Paul Henry has closed the gap on Breakfast to the closest the two programs have had.

Breakfast was down slightly to an average audience of 118,953 viewers between 7am and 9am while Paul Henry was up to 68,270.

Both Breakfast and Paul Henry had falls between 7am and 9am last week but while it was a 15% drop for TV One to an average audience of 119,633 TV3 was down 8% to an average audience of 66,110.

Despite a 3% drop on the previous week, Paul Henry has managed to consolidate the big gains the show made three weeks ago with an average audience of 72,058 viewers between 7am and 9am.

Breakfast enjoyed a 5% rise on the previous week to an average audience of 140,380 viewers between 7am and 9am.

Paul Henry is really on a role at the moment with another record breaking week last week. Monday morning’s episode saw TV3’s new early morning program hit an average audience of 90,610 viewers between 7am and 9am which helped give the weekly average a 2% lift to 75,610 per day.

Last week saw Paul Henry ride the wave of the previous Friday’s record average audience of 69,260 viewers between 7am and 9am to set a new weekly record with an increase of 22%.

For the first time ever, the average audience last week was over 60,000 viewers per day for the entire week.
