BrookeDobsonTVNZ Breakfast reporter Brooke Dobson announced this morning that she is leaving the programme and the country. Dobson is to undertake her Overseas Experience by moving to New York.

Also this morning, Matt McLean announced he’s moving to the current affairs division of TVNZ. McLean, who has been filling in for Sam Wallace presenting the weather on Breakfast this week, will file stories for 20/20 for approximately the next six months.

It was announced on Friday that Business on Breakfast is being integrated into the news bulletins which will continue to be presented by Nadine twice a week.

TVNZ Chief Executive Kevin Kenrick has offered a personal statement answering concerns expressed today about the involvement of Peter Williams in reading an abusive message, apparently from a viewer,  which was in fact not genuine.

“I’ve had numerous questions today asking how a journalist and presenter of his seniority and standing could have done such a thing.  It is crucial to our integrity as a news organisation that we don’t allow people to think that Peter’s contribution to the news story was a deliberate falsification intended to deceive viewers. TVNZ has today announced that Alison Pugh will be the new co-host of TV ONE’s Breakfast, alongside current host Rawdon Christie.

John Gillespie, TVNZ’s Head of News and Current Affairs, says, “We are very pleased to have secured Ali as our new Breakfast co-host. She is a big asset to the News team as a reporter, and now has proved she has what it takes to front the show. Viewers have told us they enjoy watching Ali in the role and I know they’ll enjoy seeing her continue alongside Rawdon every morning.” Continue reading »
