Britain’s Best

This is a major history series about the most significant historical and heritage sites in England, Scotland and Wales. A panel of experts has chosen the places that they think ‘matter most’ – and Alan Titchmarsh presents programmes about ‘Britain’s Best’ palaces, castles, religious buildings, historic gardens and historic houses. The series introduces a cast of British historians who act as guides around Britain’s greatest properties – like Chatsworth House, Blenheim Palace and Edinburgh Castle. Tessa Dunlop visits Westminster Abbey, Jules Hudson explores Stonehenge and Jonathan Foyle goes to Winston Churchill’s private home at Chartwell in Kent. There’s a 5,000-year-old historic house at Skara Brae in Scotland, Britain’s finest Norman cathedral in Durham and the stunning, historic, landscaped gardens at Stowe in Buckinghamshire.
