One year after a tragic accident, the Walker family reunites in the new season of TV2’s hit drama, Brothers And Sisters.

It’s been a year since the Walker family was torn apart by a tragic car accident, and in a very un-Walker like fashion, everyone has been avoiding everyone else. Truths and reality only start to set in when the family is forced to come together for Justin’s (Dave Annable) homecoming party.

Despite the fact that Calista Flockhart’s character, Kitty, lost her husband, Robert (Rob Lowe), in the accident at the end of last season, Flockhart assured the American TV Guide that the show will still be “funny and poignant.”

After working together for four seasons, Flockhart and the cast of Brothers And Sisters were sad to part ways with Lowe, though Flockhart does admit she is excited that Kitty may have some new potential love interests. “I don’t think that Kitty will be single for that long”, says Flockhart. “She’ll have lots of guys – at least I hope she will,” laughs the actress.

The shows executive producer, David Marshall Grant, confirms that Kitty won’t be alone for long. “It’ll be a little challenging for her,” says Grant after confirming that Nora (Sally Field) and Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) will convince her to start seeing other men after the death of Robert. “I’m sure she’ll have the date from hell.”

In the season premiere of Brothers And Sisters, Nora tries to prepare for Justin’s party, but she’s not acting like the mother she used to be; Sarah is consumed with the Narrow Lake deal; Kevin (Matthew Rhys) has a new career as public defence attorney; Saul (Ron Rifkin) and Scotty (Luke Macfarlane) are running their restaurant; and Kitty’s life has become a taboo subject for everyone.

It’s more solid programming from TV2 in 2011 with some excellent content.  The only thing obviously missing was any sign of new local shows on TV2.

Kitty’s (Calista Flockhart) surge in popularity creates a media circus for her family, tonight on Brothers And Sisters.

Kitty’s newfound fame creates havoc for Luc (Gilles Marini) and Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), as Luc faces possible deportation. When Kitty and Kevin (Mathew Rhys) turn up to a campaign event, they are mobbed by protesters claiming Luc is taking work away from ordinary Americans.

Meanwhile, Nora (Sally Field) swallows her pride and reaches out to Tommy (Balthazar Getty) to help her save the company from the Walkers’ longtime nemesis, Dennis York (Peter Gerety, The Wire).

9:30pm Monday, June 21 on TV2

As Dennis York (Peter Gerety, The Wire) closes in on the Walkers, a devastating family secret comes to the surface tonight, in Brothers And Sisters.

In a special episode, the Walker children bring to mind their teenage memories of a night of conflict, to try and work out what exactly York is holding over Nora (Sally Field). Remembering their eighties hairstyles, fashions and adolescent insecurities, they recall a fateful party they held as teenagers. A young Kitty (Kay Panabaker, Fame) tries alcohol for the first time, Tommy (Cody Longo, High School) gets into a car accident, and Kevin (Kasey Campbell, Stolen Lives) wrestles with his feelings for a friend.

As the family continue to flashback to their younger days, they piece together a shocking secret and the shameful cover-up that led to York’s power play, and are forced to deal with the fall-out of a tragic event.

As a classic Walker meltdown brews, star Sally Field reveals the familial on-screen chemistry comes from the cast’s off-screen relationship.

“I think we have just this amazing group of actors, and I think there’s this weird thing from the beginning in that we ‘fell in like’ with each other, and I think that really shows,” Field says. “I mean, that’s how we treat each other when we’re not working.”

Field puts the success of the show down to viewers’ ability to relate to the dysfunctional Brothers And Sisters dynamic.

“You look back on the year in the life of your family, I bet you can go, ‘Oh, God, the times we were crying, the times we fought with each other, and the times some traumatic, dramatic incident happened that everybody was on the phone’.

“The people that respond to the show say, ‘You remind me of my mother. It reminds me of my relationship with my brother,’ and I think it does. I think that family is this huge sort of emotional pain in the butt.”

9:30pm Monday, April 12 on TV2

Nora (Sally Field) is worried about the age gap between herself and her new toy-boy as she prepares for their first public date, on Brothers And Sisters.

When Ojai’s newest wine is submitted at a local festival, the family hold their breath as they wait to see if the company can be saved by the product. At the festival, Nora takes Simon (Jon Tenney, who also stars in TV ONE series The Closer) as her date, but worries about getting a reputation as a cougar at the high-profile event.

In an interview with TV Guide USA, Tenny remains tight-lipped about how his relationship with Nora plays out over the series, but he is contracted to the show beyond tonight’s episode.

About his fledgling relationship with the Walker matriarch, Tenny says: “I don’t want to give too much away, but I think there will be one camp of people that will think, ‘This is a really good thing’, and another camp will say, ‘This is a really bad thing’.”

Tenny reveals that his character, an oncologist who works at the hospital where Kitty was being treated for cancer, is looking for charitable donations for an overseas project.

“There’s a medical foundation he’s involved with that’s starting up facilities in underdeveloped countries,” Tenny says. “He’s looking for investors, and Nora actually offers to invest – she kind of insists, and he reluctantly takes some investments from her.”

Viewers will be left guessing about Simon’s true intentions for the unlucky-in-love Nora, but she finds herself falling for the dashing doctor. Could he be too good to be true, or has she found romance at last?

Elsewhere, Justin (Dave Annable) and Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) harbour life-changing secrets from one another, and Kevin (Matthew Rhys) and Scotty (Luke Macfarlane) have difficulty in selecting an egg donor for their baby.

Meanwhile, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Luc (Gilles Marini) discover they may not be as compatible as they had hoped, and Kitty (Calista Flockhart) is anxious that Robert (Rob Lowe) hasn’t seen her without her wig. How will he react when he sees her bald for the first time?

9:30pm Monday, March 22 on TV2

A surprise night-time arrival heralds the return of Tommy (Balthazar Getty), in tonight’s Brothers And Sisters.

Disturbed by what they think is an intruder in the middle of the night, Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Nora (Sally Field) call Luc (Gilles Marini) to their rescue. However, after a struggle ensues, the Walker women are surprised when the man reveals himself as Tommy. Kitty, who is still in the throes of chemo, is thrilled by the surprise arrival, but how long will her disgraced brother stick around for?

Elsewhere, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) finally realises she has to tell her kids about her relationship with Luc, who is still stashed away at her mother’s house, before they start to piece it together themselves.

Griffiths, whose character has been single on the show since an on-screen split with husband Joe (John Pyper-Ferguson), is happy that the writers gave Sarah some time on her own before a new romance came along.

“I’m glad they left it this long from the divorce, because I think it does take working women with young kids a couple of years before they might try dating.”

However, Griffiths is relishing the storyline and showing another side of her character’s personality.

“You know, you have other considerations when you have children,” Griffiths says. “You’re feeling old, you’re feeling wrecked, you’ve lost your faith in love. So I’m glad that they’ve waited this long, but now I think the audience wants to see Sarah have fun and let loose a bit.”

Also tonight, Holly (Patricia Wettig) finds a way to keep her financial future from unravelling, and Kevin (Matthew Rhys) and Scotty (Luke Macfarlane) finally agree on a possible surrogate mother for their child.
