Taylor agrees with Charlie’s Angels axe

Aussie actress Rachael Taylor has said she was not surprised that the Charlie’s Angels reboot was axed early. “You know what? F**k! It was not very good. I love the studio, I love Drew Barrymore, I love the girls, I loved the costumes, I loved the idea of revamping it – but for whatever the strange alchemy that film and television is, that pot just wouldn’t bubble.”

Janney to guest on The Big C

Alison Janney will guest in the third season of The Big C, it has been announced. Janney will play a successful Hollywood producer on the show.

Favreau to direct new J.J. Abrams pilot

Iron Man director Jon Favreau will reportedly direct the pilot episode of J.J. Abrams’s new action drama Revolution. It would be the first time that Favreau has directed a TV drama.

Mistresses to be remade in the US

The ABC network has ordered a remake of British drama series Mistresses. The network has skipped the pilot stage of the project and will air the series in 2013.

Former Charlie’s Angels actress Jaclyn Smith has scored a guest role on CSI. The actress will play the mother of David Hodges (Wallace Langham).

Martin returning to Glee?

Reports are suggesting Ricky Martin will feature again on Glee after making a guest appearance as a Spanish teacher recently.

You’ll recall that recently, TVNZ decided to fast track the new reboot of the 70’s show Charlie’s Angels.  You may have tuned in to watch the show in its 9:30 timeslot and wondered where it had gone.  Well, TVNZ have dropped it.

Production of the show was cancelled mid October but the remaining episodes are still playing out on ABC in the US with the sixth episode airing today.  TVNZ on the other hand won’t be playing the remaining episodes until “a later date”.

Yet another case of backing a fast-track loser and then pulling it from the race before it’s even finished.

Charlie’s Angels cancelled

Production on the Charlie’s Angels reboot has been shut down after ABC cancelled the series. The series received poor reviews from critics and declined sharply in the ratings from its premiere.

Phillippe joins Damages

Ryan Phillippe has joined the cast of Damages where he will play a character similar to WikiLeaks creator Julian Assange. It will be the actor’s first regular TV role since the early ‘90s.

Durst lands comedy role

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst has reportedly signed a deal to appear in a new sitcom. The half-hour comedy is being produced under the working title of Douchebag and will centre on a rock legend struggling to balance his celebrity lifestyle with family life.

Glee creator sells show

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has sold a comedy pilot to the NBC network. Murphy and fellow Glee co-executive producer Allison Adler will serve as writers for the show.

Despite filming the show in the intense heat of summer, Annie Ilonzeh, who plays former cop Kate, confesses the Angels possess a few secret weapons to help them cope.

“[We have] a great glam squad…and the power of positive thinking to stay cool.”

Rachael Taylor, who plays disgraced socialite Abbey, admits the girls aren’t really super-human.

“Trying to stay cool in Miami…with the hot lights isn’t easy – thankfully our effects guy rigged these portable fans that are extremely powerful.”

Minka Kelly who plays ex-convict Eve, says the fast-paced action and doing her own stunts have taken a toll on her body.

“Every muscle in my body is ridiculously sore. I can’t laugh, cough or sneeze without laughing at how much it hurts!”

The show is being executive produced by Drew Barrymore who starred in the Charlie’s Angel’s movie in 2000 and its sequel, alongside Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz.

Brand to host SNL

British comic Russell Brand will make his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this month. Brand confirmed the news on his Twitter feed, saying: “I am hosting Saturday Night Live, Feb 12th. If you have any sketches/jokes please send. Remember, I will ONLY play drug addicts (sic).”

Cast confirmed for Charlie’s Angels reboot

Producers of the new Charlie’s Angels reboot have confirmed that Rachael Taylor, Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh will play the three angels while Austin Powers actor Robert Wagner has signed on to voice Charlie. Production on the pilot is expected to begin next month.

Pilot picked up from Gossip Girl creator

The creator of Gossip Girl and The OC Josh Schwartz has had a new pilot called Georgetown picked up by ABC. The pilot centres on young people working in Washington and will be executive produced by Schwartz’s Gossip Girl colleague Stephanie Savage.

MTV continues with Skins

Despite losing its ninth advertiser, MTV will stand by its US version of Skins. The series has attracted a considerable amount of publicity thanks to its explicit nature but MTV programming chief David Janollari says the publicity has been positive for the series. “I think it’s always good when people are talking about you and people are certainly talking about (Skins),” he said.

Super Bowl Glee episode geared towards guys

Producers of Glee have promised male viewers that the upcoming Super Bowl episode of the series will appeal to them. The episode will open with bikini-clad girls performing a dance number to Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ while BMX riders perform tricked overhead.
