With well over 100,000 signatories already, this petition to the Australian Government for stronger laws targeting cyber-bullying is one of many avenues likely to lead to the same result

We ask that the Australian Government and the state government’s enforce the existing anti-bullying and harassment laws, and take action against those who violate them.  We ask that Social Media companies take a more active role in the prevention of cyber bullying, and take more responsibility in monitoring posts of ‘hate’. We ask that together we unite to change the cyber bullying platform.

Twitter victim, Charlotte Dawson, tonight revealed the ferocity of the death threats that she recieved in a paid interview with 60 Minutes Australia. The 46 year old New Zealand native, ended up in hospital after she tweeted “you win x” with a picture of a hand holding tablets at 2.07am on Wednesday night. Her attempt at suicide highlights the severity of cyber bullying.
