jones-channel-logoThis week Sky released the first batch of highlights for their new channel Jones!.

As we posted earlier this month, the channel celebrates the shows of days gone by so if you’re over a certain age the following line-up will certainly feature a few familiar titles.

The May line-up features crime classics such as the Telly Savalas-starring Kojak, cop drama T.J. Hooker featuring William Shatner, Columbo and gritty British series The Sweeney.

If you’re a fan of classic British comedy then Dad’s Army and It Ain’t Half Hot Mum can be seen every weeknight between 7pm and 8pm starting May 13. The first season of Porridge also appears. Continue reading »

Cheers cast reunite for show’s 30th anniversary
The cast of Cheers has got together for a special reunion dinner in Beverley Hills to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary. At the event, Ted Danson, who played Sam Malone, credited Shelley Long (who played Diane) for the show’s huge success, saying, “You really put us on the map, and this is not my opinion. This is everybody’s. We hadn’t seen a character like Diane Chambers for years … You really put Cheers on the map with your astounding performance.”

TV audiences, it seems, are getting older despite youth-oriented shows ruling the ratings in the US.

Where twenty years ago Cheers was the most popular show in TV with an average audience age of 34, American Idol is now the current king of television yet its average audience is 43.

So what are the reasons behind the almost 10-year jump in the average viewer age of televisions favourite shows?

New York Magazine claims these three reasons may have something to do with it: young people watching less TV, the fall of sitcoms, and the rise of pay TV services.
