Lynch confirmed to host Emmys

Jane Lynch has been confirmed as the host of the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards this year. The Glee actress will host the ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on September 18.

Fear Factor to be revived

NBC has announced plans to revive reality series Fear Factor after it came to a close in 2006. NBC’s head of alternative programming Pail Telegdy said: “The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then; we’re going to be able to make it even bigger. We’re going to make it more visually arresting.”

Rossdale to guest on Burn Notice

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale has been confirmed to appear in an upcoming episode of Burn Notice. Rossdale has acted previously in the likes of Constantine and Criminal Minds.

Coogan in talks for Alan Partridge series

Steve Coogan is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Alan Partridge in a new BBC series. The BBC has confirmed that they are interested in the project but that it is at a “very early stage”.

Handler may not renew contract

E! presenter Chelsea Handler has said that she may not renew her contract for Chelsea Lately when it expires in 2012. Handler says she wants to do something that will “utilize my brain a little more than this show”.

Cheryl Cole lands US X Factor gig

Cheryl Cole has been confirmed as a judge for American version of The X Factor alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. One more judge and the host is still to be confirmed.

E! renews After Lately

E! Channel has renewed Chelsea Lately spin-off mockumentary series After Lately for a second season. The series offers a mostly fictional look behind the scenes of Chelsea Handler’s late night talk show.

Supernanny to exit TV show

TV supernanny Jo Frost has decided to make the sixth season of her show SuperNanny the last. Frost will finish making the show but will continue to develop new TV series as well as continue on Extreme Parental Guidance.

Real gun discovered on Law & Order set

A real gun was discovered on the Los Angeles set of Law & Order: Los Angeles recently, giving the cast and crew a bit of a scare. The show was filming on location in west Los Angeles when the handgun, in full working order, was found sitting on a rock.

Ali G town attempts to change name

Small UK town Staines is attempting to change its name in an attempt to distance itself from the TV series Ali G. Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen selected the town to be the home of his gangster character Ali G and painted the town in the series as an urban wasteland whose greatest assets were the local traffic circle and KFC. 

Tropic Thunder team collaborate on pilot

Tropic Thunder collaborators Steve Coogan and Justin Theroux will work together on a new pilot for HBO which centres on Theroux’s character as a documentary-maker. Theroux will also write and direct the pilot with fellow Tropic Thunder cast-mate ben Stiller attached to executive produce.

Chelsea Handler pilot picked up

American network NBC has picked up a comedy pilot based on E! channel’s Chelsea Handler’s three autobiographies. The show will reportedly draw on the late-night host’s memoirs but will centre on someone else according to Handler: “The show will be mined from my books and allow me the creative control to put a younger actress in the situations I found myself in at 26 while I sit back, laugh, and not get arrested.”

Handler lands new comedy series

E! Channel have ordered a new comedy series featuring its late night host Chelsea Handler. The show is believed to be called After Lately, screening following Handler’s existing show Chelease Lately, and will have a similar feel to ‘90s sitcom The Larry Sanders Show.

Cougar Town actor joining Brothers & Sisters

Cougar Town actor Ryan Devlin will feature on the next season of Brothers & Sisters after landing a role as a grad student in Kitty’s (Calista Flockhart) law class. Devlin, who plays Smith on Cougar Town, has also appeared in Grey’s Anatomy.

Gorillaz say no to Glee

Alternative band Gorillaz have bucked the trend and announced that they definitely do not want hit musical series Glee covering their songs. The band has spoken out saying they are not interested in having the show use their tracks as they believe they are “a very poor substitute for the real thing”.

Klum to launch new show

Project Runway host Heidi Klum is ditching fashion designers for a younger bunch of co-stars in a new unscripted series. Klum will launch a show focussed on children, with the former-supermodel “interacting with children and bringing out the hilarious and often insightful things they say”.
