Crime Lab: DNA

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC – Mondays from 14 May, 8.30pm

Forensic pioneers provide a compelling look at the turning points of forensic science disciplines including DNA testing, toxicology, forensic anthropology, finger printing, offender profiling and ballistics. In our modern, CSI-obsessed world, it’s surprising to think that DNA is a new forensic tool. But it wasn’t until the mid-1980s when a serial murderer terrorised the population of a small English town, that DNA came to the forefront as a crime-solving tool. In less than 25 years, DNA profiling has revolutionised the way police investigate crimes and helped put the world’s most notorious killers behind bars.
