This investigative series take viewers behind the scenes: revealing what occurred, introducing the people involved, unveiling techniques used in solving the crime, exposing the intense emotion and final resolution of the case. Police officers, family and friends of the victim, defense lawyers and prosecutors all share their differing views of the crime and its consequences. First hand accounts are coupled with dramatic re-enactments, news footage, clippings and photographs to paint a comprehensive picture of the grim truth.

In 1964 thirteen Boston women were brutally strangled within an 18-month period. The city was locked in terror and the media dubbed this savage murderer The Boston Strangler. Albert Henry DeSalvo later confessed to the murders while in prison serving a life sentence for sexual assault and armed robbery. DeSalvo was stabbed behind bars after six years of his sentence. To this date, no one has been charged with the murders.
