Crossing Jordan

VIBE – Weeknights from Monday 15 March, 7.30pm

“You be the killer, and I’ll be the victim, and we’ll figure out how this happened.” It’s business as usual for this dedicated, impulsive and abrasive medical examiner, every weeknight on Vibe.

Jill Hennessy (Law & Order) features at the heart of this intriguing dramatic series as Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh, a smart, sexy, and fearless medical examiner with a chequered past – and a penchant for going beyond the call of duty to investigate crimes.

After a professionally and personally difficult stint in Los Angeles, Jordan returns to her hometown of Boston and her former job with the Massachusetts State Coroner’s Office. There Jordan is reunited with her ex-cop father, Max (Ken Howard), whom she often turns to for investigative help. Together, they engage in some rather unusual role-playing that literally puts them in the heads of the killers and victims at the murder scene. Still haunted by the unsolved murder of Jordan’s mother, this tragic incident shapes her empathy with the voiceless victims she encounters as she channels her inner anger towards piecing together complex murder cases that have been hidden, shoved aside or conveniently forgotten.

On the job, Jordan is supported – at least most of the time – by her boss, Dr. Garret Macy (Miguel Ferrer). Other colleagues assisting her are forensic entomologist Dr. Mahesh “Bug” Vijayaraghavensatyanaryanamurthy (Ravi Kapoor), grief counsellor Lily Lebowski (Kathryn Hahn), and criminalist Dr. Nigel Townsend (Steve Valentine). Detective Woodrow “Woody” Hoyt (Jerry O’Connell) provides the much needed legwork to track down the perpetrators Jordan and her team investigate.

In an unforgettable flight and spectacular series finale, Jordan Cavanaugh (Jill Hennessy) and the team of coroners are stranded in a devastating plane crash. But on their way back to Boston with the bodies, an unexpected storm causes their plane to crash, leaving the team stranded in the mountains. Woody (Jerry O’Connell) and Bug (Ravi Kapoor) set out on foot in search of a radio reception to signal for help, while Jordan, Macy (Miguel Ferrer), Kate and Nigel (Steve Valentine) do what they do best, autopsies. Trying to figure out what mysteriously killed these people, while facing the fact that they may all die, Jordan and her fellow coroners are pushed to their limits. New Season, NZ Premiere: Crossing Jordan
SKY 1 – Mondays from 16 April, 7.30pm

In the brand new season of Crossing Jordan, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) must prove her innocence after being accused of murdering her lover J.D Pollack (Charles Mesure). A fugitive on the run, Jordan goes in pursuit of the news story that Pollack had been working on to find out what really happened the night he was murdered. Meanwhile, while the rest of the team is collecting evidence to clear Jordon’s name, Lu (Leslie Bibb) calls upon independent medical examiner Dr Kate Switzer (guest star Brooke Smith, “Silence Of The Lambs”) in an effort to prove that Jordan is guilty. More trouble is in store for Jordan and her colleagues when the morgue comes under investigation, with Special Prosecutor William Ivers (Jeffrey Donovan, “Touching Evil”) appointed to investigate the practices of the coroners’ office and specifically those of Jordon. As a result Macy (Miguel Ferrer) pressures Jordon to abandon her unorthodox methods of solving crimes. In another dramatic twist, Jordan and her colleagues will be faced with the death of one of their own. Jerry O’Connell, Ravi Kapoor, Steve Valentine and Kathryn Hahn also star in all new episodes of the hit series, featuring guest appearances by Josh Duhamel and Molly Sims of “Las Vegas”.

Last year, it was heard that SKY 1’s Crossing Jordan was out casting a “sexy, funny and slightly cocky cop.”

Well, spoilers have it that Viggo Mortensen of Lord Of The Rings fame has been offered the role!

No word on whether it would be a long-term role, or for a storyline arc (or possibly just a single episode), but any of these would be cool.
