LIVING CHANNEL – Saturdays from 2 May, 9.30pm

Architectural historian, writer and television journalist Dan Cruickshank (Around the World in 80 Treasures) enthusiastically explores the world’s greatest cities, buildings, monuments and celebrates the different styles of architecture.  From Russian palaces and fairytale castles in Bavaria, to Mayan pyramids and igloos in Greenland, the buildings all reveal human aspirations, ingenuity and beliefs.  Each episode is based around a theme: beauty, death, paradise, disaster, connections, power, dreams and pleasure and focuses on famous buildings that illuminate each theme.  As well as an in-depth look at the monuments, Dan also meets the people associated with the architectural masterpieces and gains insight into how their lives are affected by them.
