Darcy’s Wild Life

Wednesday 1 April, 5pm on TV6

The second series of Darcy’s Wild Life starring Sara Paxton (Aquamarine, Sleepover, Malcolm In The Middle), and executive produced by Stan Rogow (Lizzie McGuire) starts this week on TVNZ6 Family.

Bubbly teen Darcy Fields (Sara Paxton) traded glitzy Hollywood parties for life in a tiny country town when her movie star mum, Victoria Fields (Natalie Radford – PT Barnum, Last Call), decided to search for ‘simple values and simple pleasures’.

Life in the country may be simple, but it’s certainly never dull, as the teen fashionista swaps high heels for gumboots and discovers she’s more resilient than she thought.

Her character may have had a hard time adjusting to country life, but rising star Sara Paxton has had a ball working on Darcy’s Wild Life. “The whole cast and crew get along so well. I see these people every single day for five months and it’s like they’re my second family now. Also, we get to spend so much time around animals and so we get to play around with little puppies or kittens.”

In the season premiere of Darcy’s Wild Life: Darcy discovers that Orville, Mr. Ferguson’s prize pig, will be eaten if he wins the blue ribbon at the County Fair, so she and Eli steal and hide the pig in order to save him.

What happens when, as a 14 year-old, you have to trade all the glitz and glamour of a celebrity lifestyle for the life of a country bumpkin in the middle of nowhere? Find out in Darcy’s Wild Life, screening Wednesdays at 5pm on TVNZ Family on TVNZ 6.

Darcy’s Wild Life is a comedy drama series starring Hollywood actress and singer Sara Paxton (Malcolm In The Middle) and produced by Stan Rogow (Lizzie McGuire).
When Darcy’s mum, a gorgeous and eccentric Hollywood actress, wants to get away from the endless whirl of premieres, parties, and after-parties in search of “simple values and simple pleasures”, farm life isn’t exactly what Darcy has in mind.

But when Darcy and her mum roll up in small-town America, Darcy is forced to give up her Malibu mansion for a ranch, and trade her fabulous high-heels for gumboots.

Life on the ranch may be simple, but with Darcy around, it’s certainly not dull! Darcy’s Wild Life is a coming-of-age teen comedy that traces the challenges Darcy faces while coming to grips with a new way of life. Over time, Darcy learns to enjoy her new lifestyle – she finds her natural pluck, persistence and a positive attitude.

Sara Paxton identifies with her character Darcy because they’re both optimistic.

“She had to leave all of her friends and her home and everything and start a new life. And she didn’t let that get her down. She decided that would make the best of it and now she’s really happy with her life.”

Darcy becomes captivated by animals she never even knew existed, builds friendships with the quirky local townspeople, and adapts to a life she never expected to lead – all this while learning valuable life lessons about accepting others.

Darcy’s Wild Life is an after-school gem, where The Simple Life meets Gilmore Girls, on TVNZ Family.
