Stars to join the cast in the new season include Julia Stiles (The Bourne Trilogy) who becomes a new woman in Dexter’s life, Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Eli Stone) will play a man of mystery, Shawn Hatosy (Numb3rs, Public Enemies) will act as a “bad guy” and Peter Weller (Robocop, 24) joins the cast as a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation.

Before we let you loose on the Season 5 premiere, we will revisit the shocking conclusion to the 4th season.

In the 4th season finale, the noose tightens as Arthur warns Dexter to back off. But Dexter will do anything to stop Trinity from eluding him, even if that means putting himself on the wrong side of the law.

The Box are going to play the latest season of Dexter (Season 5) straight off the satellite, or near enough.

Grenier to feature in 90210

Entourage actor Adrian Grenier will appear in an episode of teen drama 90210 later this year. The actor will feature on the show with his real-life band The Honey Brothers as they play at an 18th birthday party.

Tim Gunn to guest on Gossip Girl

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn will make a guest appearance on the latest season of Gossip Girl, playing himself. Gunn is no stranger to the guest appearance on scripted shows, popping up on the likes of Ugly betty and How I Met Your Mother.

Second wave of Emmy presenters announced

The second wave of presenters for the upcoming Emmy Awards have been announced with 30 Rock’s Tina Fey, Edie Falco, Wil Arnett, Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Colbert joining yesterday’s lineup.

Vance signs on for Dexter

Former All Saints actor Chris Vance has joined the cast of Dexter for the upcoming fifth season. Vance, who has also recently featured on Prison Break and Burn Notice, will play a character called Cole who is the personal aide to a prominent businessman.

Coro producers beef up security

Coronation Street is beefing up security ahead of the show’s 50th anniversary, with concerns of leaks of the long-running show’s feature storyline. Such is their paranoia, producers are even bringing in a team to sweep the set for bugging devices.

Glee lands Carol Burnett for cameo

Glee will have Carol Burnett on board for the next season with news the actress will plays Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) “Nazi-hunting mother”. Details of her cameo appearance have not been revealed.

Dexter star joins Private Practice

Dexter actor James Remar has landed a recurring role on the latest season of Private Practice. The actor is expected to play a physician called Gibby who joins the practice.

Topher Grace planning remake

That ‘70s Show actor Topher Grace is reportedly developing a remake of classic 1970s cop show CHiPS. Grace will executive produce the series which is in its early stages at Warner Bros.

Rafters actor joins Play School

Packed to the Rafters actor Hugh Sheridan has made his debut on the children’s series Play School in Australia. The actor, who plays Ben on the drama series, will co-host Play School several times a week.

Glee merch on sale soon

The range of Glee products soon to be available to the public prior to the second season will feature the likes of a Wii game entitled Karaoke Revolution Glee, a Glee boom box, board games, greeting cards by Hallmark, apparel, stationery, and “small leather goods”.

Another porn star for Entourage

A male adult film star has landed a guest role in the new season of Entourage alongside fellow performer Sasha Grey. Tommy Gunn will appear in an episode to play the ex-boyfriend of the actress.

More casting news for Dexter fans, Eli Stone actor Jonny Lee Miller has signed on to appear in the upcoming season of the drama series. Miller will join the likes of Julia Stiles on the refreshed fifth season.

Longoria Parker’s new reality show

Eva Longoria Parker has confirmed a new reality TV show will focus on her restaurant in Hollywood. The actress has said she will not appear in the show much, with the focus on the staff instead.

Doctor Who auctions

A number of major props from Doctor Who are going under the hammer next week including the Tardis from previous seasons. The item, used in 2005, is expected to fetch up to NZ$25,000 along with an original Dalek dating back to 1964 estimated at $NZ7000.

Entourage confirms guests

Entourage has confirmed Lenny Kravitz and P Diddy will make guest appearance sin the upcoming season of the show. Kravitz will play himself as a client of Ari’s while Diddy will join Mark Walhberg in one of his token golf course appearances.

CSI: Miami drops cast member

CSI: Miami have cut cast member Eddie Cibrian (Cardoza) for the next season of the show. The actor only recently joined the cast of the crime procedural after an original member left, but now the producers have decided to revert back to focussing on the remaining original cast.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced which television celebrities will be receiving stars on the Walk of Fame for 2011. 30 Rock’s Tina Fey heads the list, along with Idol creator Simon Fuller, Neil Patrick Harris, John Langley, Ed O’Neill, John Wells and Oprah Winfrey.

Vuvuzela-free games screened

Several international networks have screened vuvuzela-free games from the FIFA World Cup after receiving so many complaints from the viewers. German and French networks have led the way with the BBC in the UK also planning to filter out the drone for England’s next match against Algeria.

Eric Roberts joining soap

Eric Roberts is making a return to the world of soaps, with the actor confirming he is set for a role on The Young and the Restless. Roberts will play an attorney representing a familiar cast member on the soap, debuting in July.

Tommy Lee for Californication

Rocker Tommy Lee will make a guest appearance on the upcoming season of Californication. Lee will appear alongside David Duchovny in the drama series which has seen several celebrities make small appearances over the past few seasons.

The Office promotes Gabe

Zach Woods has been promoted to a series regular in the next season of The Office in the US. Woods plays Gabe Lewis in the comedy which is set to lose star Steve Carrell after the seventh season.

Dexter has announced yet another cast addition with April Lee Hernandez set to join the drama in the new season. The ex-ER actress will play a new police officer alongside big-name signing Julia Stiles.

Broadcasters complain

Organisers of the FIFA World Cup are copping complaints from broadcasters and television viewers worldwide following the opening weekend of the tournament due to the sound of the vuvuzela (the large plastic horns) in the crowds at the stadiums. The continuous drone of the horns are upsetting some broadcasters whose sound coverage is being affected by them.

Sky rugby signal failure

A signal failure in New Plymouth on Saturday night cut coverage of Richie McCaw’s post match interview following the All Blacks big win over the Irish in the opening rugby test of the year. Sky lost power during McCaw’s live interview and failed to restore it for roughly ten minutes. The interview was not replayed and neither was Irish captain Brian O’Driscoll’s.

More talent joins Dexter

After the news last week the Julia Stiles was joining the cast, Dexter has pulled further talent for the next season of the show. Actress Maria Doyle Kennedy and actor Shawn Hatosy will be major parts of the series in recurring roles.

Piers Morgan the new Larry King?

Englishman Piers Morgan is rumoured to be lining up a gig replacing chat show king Larry King on a nightly CNN show. Following dwindling ratings for King’s show this year, the producers are desperate to revamp the show and believe Morgan is the man to do the job.

Stars against Cougar Town name change

Cougar Town stars Busy Philipps and Josh Hopkins are against a planned name change for the new comedy series which its producers believe is a good idea. The pair feels the name is now ingrained and the brand has been set and changing it would be detrimental to the show.

Flashforward protest

Disgruntled Flashforward fans are planning a blackout protest to show their anger over the show’s recent cancellation. The protest will be staged outside the ABC offices in major American cities and will consist of fans mimicking unconsciousness for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. A website PreventTheBlackout has also been launched in support.

Julia Stiles confirms Dexter

Julia Stiles has officially signed on to feature in the fifth season of drama series Dexter. The actress will appear in ten episodes in the upcoming season playing “a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter (Michael C. Hall).”

Christians blame Ellen

A Christian news website has made a bold claim as to the reason for the latest season of American Idol bombing in the ratings in the US: the sexual orientation of new judge Ellen DeGeneres. The site’s director has placed blame squarely on the shoulders of the producers of the show saying: “At this moment in entertainment history, network television is on a pro-homosexuality bender,” McCullough. The producers of ‘American Idol’ chose to be a part of this push; it was a huge mistake.”

New Glee album

Glee’s Matthew Morrison is set to ride the wave of success of the hit TV show and release his own solo album. Morrison, who plays Mr Schuester on Glee, describes his style on the album as “dance heavy” and a cross between Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake.

Willard joins Family

Actor Fred Willard has confirmed he will return to Modern Family again next year after making an appearance on the show’s first season. Willard played Frank Dunphy, father of Phil, on two episodes and has stated he will pop up again in season two.

Perrette back for more NCIS

NCIS regular Pauley Perrette has signed a new deal to stay with the series despite talk the show was having trouble signing its stars for the next season. The actress has confirmed a new multi-year deal to continue playing Abby on the drama alongside Mark Harmon and Cote de Pablo and recently confirmed Rocky Carroll and David McCallum.

Doctor Who goes GaGa

Reports are suggesting pop singer Lady GaGa is being lined up to appear on English series Doctor Who. Apparently the BBC would love the singer to play a villain on the rebooted series saying: “She is no stranger to dressing up and would be more than a match for the Doctor. It would be a great coup to get her.”

Patel, Hoult for Skins movie

Skins actors Dev Patel and Nicholas Hoult have signed on to feature in the Movie adaptation of the English series. The pair, who featured in the first and second seasons of the show, are confirmed for the project which will feature cast members from across the four seasons.
