Banksy leaves his mark on The Simpsons

Prolific British graffiti artist Banksy has left his mark on the famous title sequence of The Simpsons by directing a special intro to the popular cartoon. Banksy left his tags all over the streets of Springfield during the sequence as well as featuring an extended sweatshop sequence which points to the fact that Fox outsourced a bulk of their animation to a company in South Korea.

Lady GaGa Sopranos clip surfaces

A clip of a 15-year-old Lady GaGa appearing in the background of a scene in The Sopranos has hit the internet. The singer appears in a scene with Tony Soprano’s son AJ by a swimming pool, with her sitting in the background eating pizza with other minor characters.

Drescher lands chat show

Fran Drescher has signed a deal to feature in her own daytime chat show, with an initial testing period of three weeks. The former Nanny actress will launch the show on America’s Fox network and should it get picked up, that voice may be pouring from our screens in the future.

Doctor Who to shoot in the US

The next season of Doctor Who will feature a pair of episodes that will be shot in the Utah desert. The BBC show will head to the States to shoot the first two episodes of the new season, taking the full cast with them.

Conrad to return to reality TV

The Hills’ Lauren Conrad will return to MTV reality television with a new show that will follow her as she negotiates the fashion world. Conrad confirmed the news saying she’s “always been open to doing reality again”.

Smith confirms Gillan’s Doctor Who return

Current Doctor Who actor Matt Smith has confirmed that co-star Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, will return to the sci-fi series for its next season amid speculation she would be written out.

Possible Mad Men appearance for Gisbon

Mel Gibson is a possibility to appear on Mad Men in a guest role with several websites reporting that the actor has met with series creator Matthew Weiner. Gibson would appear in the show’s fifth season which begins filming next year.

The Inbetweeners to finish after third season

The Inbetweeeners writer Damon Beesley has confirmed that the comedy series is unlikely to extend beyond a third season. Beesley said the show will finish with the characters last year at high school with only a movie to follow.

Transformers actress for Grey’s

Transformers
actress Rachael Taylor has signed on for a multi-episode arc in Grey’s
Anatomy’s next season. The Australian actress is expected to play a
doctor on the medical drama with her first appearance midseason.

MTV orders two new series

MTV has ordered
two new comedy series for next year, That Girl and Death Valley. That
Girl will centre on a 15-year-old who struggles through teenage life
while Death Valley is described as a horror comedy. Each show will run
for 12 episodes.

Bachelor lands TV acting role

Current Bachelor Jake Pavelka has landed an acting job in a new “dark comedy” series which is being developed. Details regarding the show are yet to be released but Pavelka says filming has begun with an airdate of around January next year.

More guest stars for House

House has announced more guest stars for its upcoming seventh season in the US, with The Good Wife’s Dylan Baker and Alias’s Amy Irving each booking spots. The trio will join former Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer Grey in making an appearance on the drama series next season.

Doctor Who enters record book

Doctor Who has entered the Guinness World Records book in becoming the longest running sci-fi programme in history by notching up 769 episodes since it first aired in 1963.

Spielberg planning comic book series

Steven Spielberg is to team up with Star Trek producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to develop a TV series around the comic book Locke and Key. The story centres around the Locke children as they attempt to recover from the murder of their father.

Doctor Who video games launched

A Doctor Who video game is set to be launched on Nintendo DS called Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth and Wii called Doctor Who: Return To Earth. The games are aimed to be family focussed and centre around the Daleks and the Cybermen.

Hurt Locker TV series on the way

American network G4 is developing a new reality show inspired by the Oscar-winning film The Hurt Locker. The ten-episode series entitled Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan will follow a US Navy unit as they go about their lives in the war zone.

Austin joins Desperate Housewives

Reggie Austin has joined the cast of Desperate Housewives for the next season to play the husband of the character to be played by Ugly Betty actress Vanessa Williams.

These were the opening lines one Doctor Who fan wrote when he started a new Facebook page dedicated to scoring Rhys Darby with the role of the twelfth doctor.  This was on July 3rd.  However, now that rumors exist that Matt Smith may be planning to quit at the end of the next season, could the former Flight of the Conchords manager be in with a real chance?

I would love to be the next Doctor Who. I tried to be the last one but got the frosty ‘it can’t be a non Brit’…

Smith to leave Doctor Who?

Doctor Who producers may be on the lookout for a new Doctor with word Matt Smith may be planning to quit the series following the next season. It is understood Smith has plans to attempt to make it in Hollywood after his stint as the Doctor in much the same way previous Doctor David Tennant has done.

Casting for Grey’s

Grey’s Anatomy has acquired the services of ex-Men In Trees actor James Tupper, who has signed on to appear in the show next season. Tupper will feature a trauma counsellor called Andrew Perkins in the upcoming season.

Beyonce tipped for Glee

Bookies in the US are tipping Beyonce to appear in the huge post-Superbowl Glee episode which is expected to rate highly due to the carry-over audience it will receive from the sports event. Other big-name stars rumoured are Lady GaGa, Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry.
