Hatcher believes Housewives finale will be better than others

Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher has said that the final episode of the drama series will be better than other big finales on TV. “I feel like [the series finale] does a pretty good job at honouring all the different characters and their sort of unique wheelhouses that they brought… to Desperate Housewives. Whether it be comedy or drama or physical comedy, I feel like the stories make sense. I think it will be better than some other big finales.”

E! will broadcast the Whitney Houston Memorial this Sunday 19 February LIVE from 5.30am.

Whitney Houston will be laid to rest exactly one week to the day since her sudden death.  The legendary diva’s funeral is set for Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in her hometown of Newark, N.J., and will be invitation only—attended by 1,500 people comprised mostly of family members and Whitney’s close friends.

To ensure that her millions of fans get a chance to say goodbye, Houston’s family has agreed to make the service available for television broadcast.

Sheen’s new sitcom “smarter”

The creator of Charlie Sheen’s new sitcom Anger Management has described it as a “smarter” comedy. The show centres on Sheen as a therapist who has far more issues than the patients he treats.

E! statement on Kardashian divorce

American Horror Story renewed

The new drama series from the creators of Glee has been given a second season order by its network in the US. American Horror Story will return for another 13 episodes in 2012.

Steven Spielberg’s latest big-budget TV series Terra Nova is said to be blowing out way over budget already during its current production in Australia. Along with creative disagreements, the pilot is said to be already $10m over budget.

Big Bang writer cover Cuoco’s injury

The writers of The Big Bang Theory will cover up actress Kaley Cuoco’s recent leg injury by writing her character Penny into the existing storyline as a bartender. Cuoco missed several episodes of the comedy series due to her broken leg.

E! to screen rock stars’ wives series

E! Channel will launch a new series which focuses on the lives of rock stars’ wives. Married To Rock will centre on the other halves of well-known rock stars such as ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell and Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens.

De Niro cop drama picked up

Robert De Niro has reportedly sold his new police drama Rookies to a network in the States. The actor is producing the series through his company Tribeca Productions alongside The Wire’s writer Richard Price.

The Situation gets boot from DWTS

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino may be top dog on MTV’s Jersey Shore but the reality star has been knocked down a peg or two overnight after getting eliminated from the American version of Dancing with the Stars. The judges described his efforts as a “terrible mess” and “consistently bad”.

E! will air world-wide the Michael Jackson memorial service slated to take place on Wednesday, July 8 at 5am NZT at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The broadcast will be LIVE both on-air, SKY Digital channel 11, and at www.Eonline.com, and fans can tune-in and log-on throughout the entire day to get the latest news and information around the passing of Michael Jackson.

During the weekend it was announced that 11,000 free tickets will be given out for the memorial service at the Staples Center and another 6,500 will be distributed for fans to watch on the big screens at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live across the street, but E! guarantees that fans around the world will not miss a minute of this enormous event.

Additional details about the memorial service were not yet released, but Jackson family spokesperson Ken Sunshine added: “Everything about the memorial has to do with accommodating as many fans as possible. It is all about the fans.”
