Connelly to direct Entourage episode

Entourage actor Kevin Connolly will step behind the camera to direct the penultimate episode of the comedy/drama series this year. Connolly, who play Eric Murphy, has directed a previous episode of the series as well as well as a film.

Berry returning to TV?

Reports are suggesting that actress Halle Berry will feature in a new TV project called Higher Learning. Berry’s last regular TV role was back in 1991.

Smallville actress Erica Durance has signed on to feature in a new pilot described as a “sexy, fast-paced drama”. Durance featured on Smallville as Lois lane.

Heroes actress lands Dexter role

Heroes actress Brea Grant has signed on for a role in the sixth season of Dexter. Grant has landed a recurring role in the series alongside new additions Mos Def, Colin Hanks and Billy Brown.

No Entourage appearance for Sheen

Entourage creator Doug Ellin has confirmed that Charlie Sheen will not be making a guest appearance on the series despite their interest in having him. Ellin says they have run out of time to organise a role for the actor.

Lopez unsure over Idol future

American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez has refused to confirm whether or not she will be back for another season next year. The singer signed only a one-year deal for the show.

Two added to Sons cast

Sons of Anarchy has added two more cast members to its fourth season line-up with Niko Nicotera and LaMonica Garrett joining the cast. Between them, the pair have appeared in the likes of Rome, One Tree Hill, CSI: Miami and Parenthood.

House renewed for eighth season

House has been renewed by Fox in the US for an eighth season. Actor Hugh Laurie has previously stated that the series could end after its eighth season.

Entourage seeking Sheen

Entourage producers have set their sights on Charlie Sheen for the upcoming final season of the series. Creator Doug Ellin said: “I called his manager and was told maybe I’d get him. But I’m still waiting for Charlie to call me back. I’d come up with something good.”

Momsen dropped from Gossip Girl

Reports are suggesting Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen will not be returning to the series next season. Jessica Szohr is also believed to dropped from the series for its fifth season.

Titanic begins filming

Filming has commenced in Budapest on new epic mini-series Titanic. The mini-series will feature both fictional and historical characters in telling the story of the ship’s demise. It will screen here in 2012.

Forsythe joins Boardwalk Empire

William Forsythe will join the second season of Boardwalk Empire to play the role of Philadelphia gangster Manny Horvitz. Forsythe previously played the role of Al Capone in the 1990’s TV series The Untouchables.

Misfits leads BAFTA nominations

Misfits is leading the way in nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards with four in total. The series is recognised in both the ‘Drama’ and ‘New Media’ categories as well as nods for Robert Sheehan (Nathan) and Lauren Socha (Kelly) for ‘Supporting Actor’ and Supporting Actress’.

RZA joining Californication

American rapper RZA has signed on for a role on the fifth season of Californication. The Wu Tang Clan member will appear in several episodes as a hip hop mogul who hires Hank (David Duchovny) to write a screenplay for him.

Entourage film is possible says Piven 

Entourage actor Jeremy Piven believes a film version of the series could happen in the future, after its eighth season concludes this year. Piven, who plays Ari Gold, says he believes the show is “set up pretty nicely for a movie” and that it would be “the perfect way to end it”.

Grohl criticizes Glee creator

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is the latest artist to criticize Glee creator Ryan Murphy for “thinking anybody and everybody should want to do” the show. Grohl said: “You shouldn’t have to do f***ing Glee. And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f***ing show… I watched ten minutes [of it]. It’s not my thing.”

Applegate scores lead role

Christina Applegate has joined the cast of a new comedy pilot from the pen of Saturday Night Live writer Emily Spivey. Applegate has landed the lead role in the project.

Survivor bails on Tonga

Survivor has pulled the pin on Tonga as a destination for the reality show after the country was unable to secure accommodation and other services needed to produce the show there. The decision is a blow to the country which was in need of the $8.1 million injection the show would have brought.

The hardcover True Blood graphic novel has proved popular upon release in the US, landing a spot on the New York Times Best-Seller list. The comic has claimed the number six spot on the list after one week on the shelves.

Ed Burns joins Entourage creator’s new pilot

Actor Ed Burns has signed up for the new HBO pilot ‘40’ from Entourage creator Doug Ellin. Burns, who has made cameo appearances on Entourage in the past, will play a banker in the pilot which focuses on a group of male friends in New York.

The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki has landed a guest spot on the upcoming final season of Entourage.

The actor, who plays Leonard on the sitcom, has signed on for a guest appearance as himself on Entourage where he will play a “tougher” version of himself.

It is believed that Galecki’s character will attempt to pull Eric’s (Kevin Connelly) on-again/off-again girlfriend Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) during his guest stint.

Spartacus producer teases prequel series

 Spartacus producer Steven S. DeKnight has teased the new prequel series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, saying it will act as a stand-alone series. “The great thing about the prequel is, it stands by itself as a story,” he said. “If you didn’t see season one, you can [still] completely enjoy and understand everything that’s going on. All the information is there, everything’s filled in [and] all the characters are introduced.”

Entourage movie in the works?

 Entourage executive producer Mark Wahlberg has said that he is still holding out for a movie based on the drama/comedy series. Wahlberg says that the cast and crew are all keen to get the ball rolling, saying: “We have one season left on TV and then it would probably take place after the finale.”

True Blood adds 3 more cast members

Three more actors have joined the cast of True Blood for the series’ upcoming fourth season. Christina Moore has landed a recurring role on the show along with former Lost actor Neil Hopkins and The Good Wife’s Chris Butler.

Idol winner praises Steven Tyler appointment

Last season’s American Idol winner Lee DeWyze has praised the show’s producers for landing Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler as a judge for next season but expressed his surprise about Jennifer Lopez’ inclusion. “I’m an Aerosmith fan, so I thought that was pretty awesome right out of the gate,” he said. “I support that decision 100%. J Lo – I mean, it’s gonna be weird. Just the combination of people, I think, is really different, and I think it’s cool, so it’ll be interesting.”
