Kevin Milne bid farewell to Fair Go last night on the show’s annual Fair Go Ad Awards which celebrated the best and worst that kiwi television advertisers had to offer over the past year.

The show proved popular last night on One, taking the top spot in the overnight ratings with around 735,000 viewers tuning in from 7.30pm.

The public had their say for the Best Ad via text (at 99 cents a pop) selecting Toyota’s ‘Believe’ ad as the best for 2010.

Saatchi & Saatchi and Flying Fish were behind the car advertisement which features an inventive father and son team and a flying fox to the ocean.

The ad took a 47% share in the voting, beating out Genesis Energy’s ‘Pukeko’, Instant Kiwi’s ‘Believe it or Not’ and Tower’s ‘Brian and Lisa’.

In the Worst Ad stakes, Harvey Norman’s ‘Sale’ ads with their garish assault of colour and budget effects were voted the worst on 2010.

Sky TV’s ‘Happy Place’, Tower’s ‘Brian and Lisa’ and Cigna’s Keith Quinn funeral insurance ads were not far behind.

The Ad Awards is always one of the most watched television programmes of the year and a highlight for the Fair Go team who put it together. Votes are streaming in for the best and worst ads of 2010, with the Old Spice ad and the Tower Insurance couple, two of the most talked about so far.
