Focusing on actual crimes, each episode of Forensic Investigators unfolds the drama, minute-by-minute, showing viewers the tireless work of detectives and the scientific procedures required to solve these mysteries. The show revisits the scenes of infamous and bizarre murders, and takes viewers into the world of the investigations that followed. Forensic Investigators shows the extraordinary time, effort and commitment detectives and forensic specialists go through to find evidence and track down perpetrators.
Unlike other crime series, Forensic Investigators has rare access to police videos, crime scene stills, interviews with the criminal and other forensic evidence. Footage that has never been seen outside of the courtroom allows viewers first-hand knowledge of the investigation.

In each of the cases, witnesses, detectives and crime scene examiners – as well as family members and friends of the deceased – tell their part of the story. Through their accounts, viewers are taken on a fascinating journey as investigators piece together tiny pieces of evidence, and witness the intriguing way they are slotted into a puzzle to reveal the murderer.

In this week’s episode, two men from Newcastle, Australia, disappear without a trace. The date is June 1999 and Danny Wasley and Mark Banks vanish, leaving their families distraught and desperate for information. When their abandoned cars are discovered, the families immediately fear the worst. Sadly, these fears are realised when the charcoaled remains of the two men are unearthed by police. Who was responsible for their grisly deaths? In their hunt for clues police uncover a tangled web of lies in a case involving drug lords, revenge and cold blooded murder.
