Glee has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season. Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said: “Glee debuted as the first and only successful musical comedy series on television, and more than four years later, it continues to defy genres, break new ground and have a significant impact on popular culture.”

Jason Bateman believes that the proposed Arrested Development movie could take some time to make given the fact they have just finished the new season. “Unfortunately, there’s probably gonna be about a year, maybe a year-and-a-half gap between the two, so you’ll end up having to watch these episodes again. It wasn’t perfectly scheduled, but we were just happy to get together as soon as we could.”

New drama from Murphy picked up

S.H.I.E.L.D. series given new title

The new superhero series based on the S.H.I.E.L.D. character has been given a new title. The series will air as marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. An official press pack tells us: “Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash The Avengers, agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organisation S.H.I.E.L.D. It takes an optimistic high-school teacher (Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison) attempting to refuel his own passion to put the spark back into a languishing group of Glee Club outcasts, who set about recapturing their starry-eyed goals with a series of show-stopping set-pieces based around musical hits both new and old. The series has catapulted its young stars (Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley) into the spotlight, and Vibe is delighted to be reliving the high notes and the heartbreak with them from the beginning, every weeknight.

It’s Boxing Day, and FOUR is celebrating with a special encore screening of the Gwyneth Paltrow Glee instalment, screening on Wednesday, December 26 th at 7:30pm on FOUR. Titled “The Substitute”, the episode sees the Oscar-winning actress joining Glee as Holly Holliday, a substitute teacher who takes over New Directions when Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) falls ill.

“Gwyneth Paltrow is a genius,” Matthew Morrison said during filming. “Who knew that she was such a triple threat? Great dancer, great singer, obviously a great actress – I just had the best time.”

“Our set is kind of like a playground – especially [for] the ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ number,” Morrison continued, revealing how Paltrow will be joining his character for a mash-up of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”.

“We were just having so much fun like, splashing each other, getting each other wet. It was fun!”

VIBE – Monday 24 December, 3pm

Celebrate the holiday season in all-singing, all-dancing style as Vibe joins McKinley High’s New Directions for the entire third season of the musical comedy sensation over two merry marathons. It’s fall, and that means back-to-school for the students and faculty at McKinley High. The New Directions clan returns after a devastating loss at Nationals, so Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) assigns a project to get them back on track. Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) starts her congressional campaign with an anti-arts platform. Special guest stars this season include Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Lindsay Lohan.

It’s the last week of the Glee season five U.S. and New Zealand hiatus, and what better way to end FOUR’s Glee encore season than with the series’ “Michael” instalment, screening on Wednesday, November 7 th at 7:30pm on FOUR. “One of our challenges,” co-costume designer Jennifer Eve, explained at the time of filming, “was to take the inspiration of Michael Jackson but keep the iconic Glee characterisations.”

“What makes ‘Michael’ a great tribute episode is that it successfully carries a lot of our storylines forward while at the same time paying homage to the King of Pop,” added Cory Monteith, who plays Finn on the series.
