Friday 24 April, 7.30pm

Style master Gok Wan is back in a new series designed to help you look fabulous despite the credit crunch, Gok’s Fashion Fix, starting tonight at 7.30pm on TV ONE.

Whatever your budget or size, the straight-talking, no-nonsense Gok, who became famous for his makeover show How To Look Good Naked, will prove there’s no need to break the bank to look great. He’ll reveal how to shop less and choose key items without wasting what’s already hanging in the wardrobe. He’ll also be going into celebrity homes and wardrobes – watch out for the legendary Joan Collins, Hollywood ‘It’ girl Mischa Barton, and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. It wasn’t difficult to persuade the stars to open up, says the outrageously stylish Gok, who co-hosts the new show with fashion side-kick, Alexa Chung.

“We were really lucky. A lot of celebs are exposed to so many different genres of fashion, but a lot of them never have the opportunity to talk about their own personal style, and how their image has helped their career. I think they’ve really enjoyed the chance to talk about the clothes they love, so they’ve all been really, really helpful.”

Gok will also pit budget, chain-store fashion against top-end designer clothes on the catwalk, striving to prove that looking fabulous need not cost the earth. “It’s not necessarily about the bargains, it’s about putting the clothes together for less.”

Gok’s own wardrobe is bulging – as you would expect – and his single most expensive item is a leather jacket worth nearly NZ$13,000. He changes his outfit “three or four times a day, normally, depending on what I’m doing. I normally have to change my outfits for work. But I always change a minimum of twice anyway”.

And despite the enormous wardrobe, Gok says he makes fashion blunders on a daily basis. “Every single day of my life!” he confesses. “You can always guarantee that tomorrow I’ll be appalled by what I’m wearing today.”

And the worst fashion faux pas on the planet? “People who wear their mobile phone on their belts,” says Gok. “If you’re not an electrician, you must never do it.”
