8:35pm Monday, November 19 on TV2

In an unforgettable two hour crossover event, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice come together to fight for a miracle.

Part one: Grey’s Anatomy, 8:35pm:

In a final attempt to save Erica’s (A.J. Langer) life, Private Practice’s Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) arrives at Seattle Grace, begging Derek (Patrick Dempsey) for help with the gliosarcoma case. Meanwhile, Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) engage in heated arguments during marriage counseling; Alex (Justin Chambers) realises that in order to be a good doctor, he’ll need to improve his people skills; and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is given a chance to shine when a man enters the ER after getting his hand stuck in meat grinder.

Part two: Private Practice, 9:35pm:

The drama continues as Cooper (Paul Adelstein) and Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) take Erica to Seattle Grace to meet with Derek, Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and Amelia regarding a very risky surgery. Scott (Stephen Amell) tells Violet (Amy Brenneman) that he would like to take their relationship to the next level; and Addison (Kate Walsh) finds herself caught in the middle of Sam (Taye Diggs) and Jake’s (Benjamin Bratt) fight about a patient.

8:35pm Monday, November 5 on TV2

Dr Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh, Private Practice) and Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) return in a special ‘What If?’ episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

As Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) puts Zola to bed and falls asleep, she begins to wonder – what if her mother had never had Alzheimers and she’d had loving, supportive parents?

The reverberations of a happy Meredith Grey change the world of Seattle Grace as we know it. What if she had never met Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in that bar and he had never separated from Addison (Walsh)? What if Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) had become a couple long before she met Arizona (Jessica Capshaw)? And what if Bailey (Chandra Wilson) never evolved from the meek intern she once was?

It’s Seattle Grace as it never was – but could have been.

It’s won multiple Emmy’s and Golden Globes and TV3 have gone to great lengths to get it to air in New Zealand a matter of hours after it has aired in the US but it seems to have done nothing for the ratings.

Homeland was only the fifth most watched program on TV3 last night and only managed to draw an average audience of 195,600 viewers.

In comparison, Beyond the Darklands drew 575,520 on TV One while Grey’s Anatomy had 361,440.

It is a true shame that the ratings don’t reflect the stellar effort by TV3.
