After being blacklisted by most of the surgeons, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) uses Lexie (Chyler Leigh) to spark Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) interest in her patient’s rare brain tumour case.

Meanwhile, Callie’s (Sara Ramirez) wish that Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Mark (Eric Dane) form a friendship comes to fruition, only it’s more irritating than helpful.

The careers and relationships of Seattle Grace’s finest hang in the balance, in the sizzling new season of TV 2’s Grey’s Anatomy.

As Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) faces the consequences of tampering with Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) clinical trial and is fired from the hospital, news of their newly unsteady relationship raises a red flag for Zola’s adoption counsellor.

Meanwhile, April (Sarah Drew) tries to step up to the plate as Chief Resident in the wake of a giant sinkhole; Alex (Justin Chambers) quickly realises that he has become the outcast of the group after ratting out Meredith; and Cristina (Sandra Oh) makes a tough decision regarding her unexpected pregnancy.

Also, Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr) brings Henry (Scott Foley) in for a last minute surgery.

Eric Dane is leaving Grey’s Anatomy

Eric Dane (who plays Mark Sloan) will appear in a handful of episodes in season nine, so that his character’s story can be wrapped up, but he will be leaving Grey’s Anatomy after that. Dane said in a statement: “I am extremely grateful to everyone at ‘Grey’s,’ ABC and Shondaland for the experience and memories I have had over the course of this run. It has been wonderful to work alongside and learn from a creative force such as Shonda Rhimes.”

Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss will return for season six

For those of you who have been worried that Elisabeth Moss (who plays Peggy) might not be returning to Mad Men, after her character left Stirling Cooper Draper Pryce last season, breathe a sigh of relief, because Matt Weiner, creator of Mad Men, has confirmed that she will be back for season six. Luddington added to Grey’s cast

Camilla Luddington has been given a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy. The actress featured on the last season of Californication and played the role of Kate Middleton in the William & Kate telemovie alongside kiwi Nico Evers-Swindell.

Cusack and Broderick turned down Breaking Bad role

John Cusack and Matthew Broderick both turned down the role of Walter White in the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad before the role eventually went to Bryan Cranston. Cranston has since won three Emmys, two Golden Globes and a SAG Award for the role.

Charles added to Grey’s cast

Heigl asks for Grey’s return

Former Grey’s Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl says she has asked the showrunners if she can return to the series. “I’ve told them I want to [return],” she told E! “Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated… balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes. I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now.”

Rossi to guest on Alcatraz

Sons of Anarchy actor Theo Rossi, who plays Juice, will make a guest appearance on the new J.J. Abrams series Alcatraz. Rossi was involved in the 2008 film Cloverfield, for which Abrams was a producer.

An episode of the Sex and the City prequel – The Carrie Diaries – has been ordered by The CW network. The series is based on a novel by author Candice Bushnell, which centres on Carrie Bradshaw’s time at a small town high school.

Modern Family criticised
