Venture into the dark world of the criminally insane, manipulators, killers and rapists with forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jane Halifax (Rebecca Gibney, Packed To The Rafters), a psychological sleuth whose precinct is the dark side of the human mind.

VIBE – Sundays from 7 February, 8.30pm

Set in Melbourne, Australia, this award-winning psychological drama pushes murder-mysteries into new realms of suspense and intrigue.

Rebecca Gibney stars as forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jane Halifax, a psychological sleuth whose precinct is the dark side of the human mind. Utilised by both the police and legal professions, Jane lives in a world of lies and shadows where the truth is never what it seems.

She may be a favourite on Australian screens, but Gibney was actually born in 1964 in Levin, on the north island of New Zealand. You may remember her as the barmaid from the DB Draught ads that ran here in the late 1990s, but she is probably more recognisable from her roles on 1980s Australian television series The Flying Doctors and more recently, Packed To The Rafters. In this series of feature length crime dramas, Gibney channels Helen Mirren’s Jane Tennyson from Prime Suspect to play a strong and intelligent female lead, with the obligatory complicated personal life.

Halifax f.p. has also attracted some of Australia and New Zealand’s finest acting names for guest roles, including Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), Hugh Jackman (Kate & Leopold), Guy Pearce (Momento), Sophie Lee (Muriel’s Wedding), Frances O’Connor (Lipstick Jungle), Radha Mitchell (Finding Neverland), Ben Mendelsohn (Australia, Love my Way), Marton Csokas (Lord Of The Rings), Renato Bartholemei (Shortland St, The Cult), and Grant Bowler (Outrageous Fortune, Ugly Betty).
