Speedway enthusiasts Lisa and Simon are tying the knot at a Hamilton golf course in this week’s unmissable Hitched, screening on Tuesday June 1st at 8pm on 3.

Christchurch speedway enthusiasts Lisa and Simon have chosen an appropriate venue for their nuptials – a golf course in their hometown of Hamilton, explains series producer Anna Lynch.

“Lisa and Simon are a quintessential kiwi couple – a pair of real straight-talking characters,” she says. “Both 22, they live in Christchurch but are getting married on a golf course in their hometown of Hamilton.”

“They’ve never lived together and are looking forward to sharing their first home, once they get back from their honeymoon on the Gold Coast,” Lynch continues.

Lisa and Simon met through Simon’s sister, who instantly recognised the couple’s mutual love of speedway racing.

“Lisa is on a hockey team with Simon’s younger sister who successfully played matchmaker – once they discovered they shared a love for speedway – sparks flew immediately,” Lynch explains.

“In their spare time Lisa and Simon are pit crew members for Colin Cameron, a champion Christchurch stock car racer,” Lynch adds.

Now about to tie the know the bride-to-be says she is determined not to cry during her upcoming nuptials; however she can’t say the same about Simon.

“Lisa talks tough – she’s determined not to cry on the big day – but is just as determined that big softie Simon will,” Lynch explains.

But when push comes to shove – who will struggle to get through their vows in one piece? Find out when Hitched continues its second season on Tuesday June 1st at 8pm on 3.

8:00pm – Tuesday, April 13 on TV 3

Hitched, the hit local series that follows Kiwi couples on their trip down the aisle continues this week with more of what viewers love – the highs and lows that couples encounter as they plan and arrange their special day. Hitched continues its second season on Tuesday, April 13th at 8pm on 3.

Hitched producer Anna Lynch says the reason behind the success of the series is the incredible couples that have allowed Hitched to capture every moment leading up to their big day.

“This year the Hitched production team has been overwhelmed by the response to our call for applicants,” Lynch explains.

“We had hundreds of couples apply, and choosing between them was extremely difficult, no two weddings are alike, and we really like to showcase a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, budgets and settings.”

Lynch continues, reviling some juicy details about this year’s series, and more specifically, the couple audiences can expect to see.

“This year’s series will include a zoo wedding, a horseback wedding, church weddings, garden weddings,” she says, adding; “And a surprising number of couples into online gaming.”

As for this week’s instalment, Lynch explains the couple, Rose and Mark, were one of the more unique she ever had the pleasure of working with.

“Rose and Mark had a very novel approach to their nuptials,” she says. “Strapped for cash, they decided to swap their skills as web designers for goods and services, effectively getting them a free wedding!”

But as if this strategy wasn’t interesting enough, Lynch says that not only was there a financial budget, but also a time limit.

“The fact that they chose to do it all in two weeks, and just before Christmas makes for very interesting viewing,” she says.

“Even Rose herself says: ‘it’s like a car crash… You know you should look away – but you can’t’.”

This certainly sounds like the recipe for an unforgettable Hitched episode… Make sure not to miss it when the series goes behind the scenes of Rose and Mark’s no-budget wedding on Tuesday, April 13th at 8pm on 3.

Hitched – the hit local series that follows Kiwi couples on their trip down the aisle returns this week with a one hour special going behind the scenes of Cherie and Shane’s Nudie Nuptial’s wedding! Hitched premieres its second season on Tuesday, April 6th at 7:30pm on 3.

Last year saw Hitched showcase a veritable roller-coaster of emotions, a smorgasbord of drama, and more than a smattering of humour. All proving that the wedding day may be the happiest day of a couple’s life, but it’s highly unlikely to be a smooth ride.

This year, Hitched promises to deliver more of what viewers love, starting with a stunning $100,000 ceremony performed – in the buff!

In 2009 The Edge radio station ran a massive nationwide campaign looking for one plucky couple brave enough to bare all in their Nudie Nuptial promotion. Come the big day, the Hitched team were there to capture them in all their glory…now this one-of-a-kind wedding is here, and it’s setting the tone for the 2010 season.

This season will see, among others, on-line gamers getting married at their local biker HQ, the big budget fairytale wedding that comes complete with a wicked mother-in-law, committed Christians who are saving themselves for their wedding night, and a couple determined to ditch low-budget for no-budget, going to extreme lengths to spend zip-zero-nothing on their big day.

Once again, Hitched will be right there alongside each of these couples, with their cameras covering all the drama involved in organising this mammoth, life-changing event.

With ceremonies that range from cheap and cheerful to high-end glam, from classically conservative to mystic New Age, from beautifully simple to simply bizarre, the second series of Hitched promises more tears, more tantrums, more feral family members, and – as always – all the romance and beauty of a wedding.

Make sure not to miss the first of this array of emotions when Hitched premieres its second season with Cherie and Shane’s Nudie Nuptial’s wedding, screening on Tuesday, April 6th at 7:30pm on 3.

8:00pm – Tuesday, September 1 on TV 3

What a season it’s been, and now the hit local series Hitched goes out with a bang with the series’ first ever same-sex civil union. Hitched concludes its first season on Tuesday, September 1st at 8pm on 3.

This week’s series final will join long-time partners Beth and Lisa as they prepare for their civil union. “They are our first same-sex couple getting hitched – with a civil union,” says Executive Producer Nigel Snowden.

But even though this may not be a traditional wedding, Snowden says that audiences will still identify with Beth and Lisa’s story. “It’s still a story of love, but again they have their own dramas along the way,” he says.

TV3’s Head of Factual Programming, Sue Woodfield, agrees saying that it’s the little quirks of each individual wedding, or civil union in this case, that make audiences identify with the couples featured in the series.

“Hitched is great – because we can all see ourselves in what’s happening on screen – we can laugh and cry with them,” she says.

But as with any big project there are always issues to be sorted out on the day, and this week’s civil union will certainly not be any different.

“I defy anyone to say nothing went wrong with their wedding plans,” says Woodfield of the issues which will arise in the episode.

However Hitched isn’t about the disasters of wedding plans going haywire; it’s about the lead up to the biggest day of a couple’s life, a day that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

“The great thing is that whatever’s happened behind the scenes it all comes together in the end,” Woodfield continues. “It always (well almost always) has a happy ending.”

Make sure not to miss Beth and Lisa’s happy ending when Hitched ends its first season on Tuesday, September 1st at 8pm on 3.

Viewers may recognise her from the New Zealand 90’s pop phenomenon True Bliss, but this week Joe Cotton is putting on a show of a different kind when she marries the man of her dreams in 3’s latest local series Hitched, screening on Tuesday, July 28th at 8pm on 3.

Audiences from all around New Zealand are invited to Joe’s big day, the day she marries Dan. And in true celebrity style the couple are throwing mega-bucks at the wedding.

But even though Joe and Dan aren’t sparing any costs on their big day, the episode will see the bride try her hand at making her own cake and shoes!

According to Sue Woodfield, TV3’s Head of Factual Programming, it’s these little quirks of each individual wedding that make audiences identify with the couples featured in the series.

“Hitched is great – because we can all see ourselves in what’s happening on screen – we can laugh and cry with them,” says Woodfield.

But as with any big project there are always issues to be sorted out on the day, and even big celebrities like Joe Cotton have their moments when it comes to the most important day of their lives.

“I defy anyone to say nothing went wrong with their wedding plans,” says Woodfield of the issues which will undoubtedly arise in the episode.

8:00pm – Tuesday, July 14 on TV 3

Who said traditions have gone out the window in the modern world? This week 3’s new local series Hitched proves that some couples still stick to their values. Hitched continues its look inside the journey towards the biggest day of couple’s lives when the series screens on Tuesday, July 14th at 8pm on 3.

This week audiences will be introduced to Jess and Dave, a couple whose love for God has helped them keep their hands off each other. At 27 they’re both virgins and haven’t even kissed!

Hitched producer, Nigel Snowden, says that ever since being introduced to the couple, Jess and Dave have always been very open about their relationship.

“We were introduced to Jess and Dave when they applied through the Cream Media website in November last year,” Snowden remembers of his first encounter with the young couple. “It was their application that said they were virgins and had never kissed.”

But even though the couple have always been very open about their values, Snowden reveals that Jess and Dave did not want this to get in the way of their real story – their love.

“Jess and Dave have always been quite open about their faith and virginity,” he says. “They just didn’t want it to be the only focus of their episode. They have a strong faith, and value Christian traditions.”

Now with more than just the pressure of their wedding day looming, Jess and Dave have even more to gain, and lose, on their big day then most couples.

But despite their lack of experience, Snowden says Jess and Dave were no more nervous leading up to the big day than any other couple featured on the series.

“Like all couples there’s always nerves, something may go wrong on the day, or something has been missed or overlooked in the planning,” he says, adding that Jess and Dave’s tale is truly one of “love and faith”.

Make sure not this story when we go behind the scenes on the journey towards the biggest day of this couple’s lives when Hitched screens on Tuesday, July 14th at 8pm on 3.

8:00pm – Tuesday, June 30 on TV 3

The week sees fun, romance, laughter and tears coming to our television screens when 3 premieres its brand new local series Hitched, screening on Tuesday, June 30th at 8pm on 3.

Hitched follows couples behind the scenes on the journey towards the biggest day of their lives – their wedding. In theory, a wedding is the most memorable day of a couple’s life together. A celebration of their love for each other and a time to show friends and family alike that they are committed to a life-long journey together.

In reality, weddings are an expensive, stressful and sometimes traumatic affair. There’s tremendous pressure on the couple for everything to be just perfect, while nobody can agree what perfect is. It’s the bringing together of two families who may not know or even like each other.

Most weddings have a built-in drama factor – be it the interfering mother-in-law, conflicts over vows, venues or night-before nerves.

Add to that endless dealings with caterers, florists, hairdressers, dressmakers. There are tears and tantrums over dress fittings, unhappy bridesmaids, drunken uncles and hung-over grooms. And on top of all that, the average New Zealander pays $20,000 for the privilege.

Hitched covers this, and more. Following couples behind the scenes on the journey towards the biggest day of their lives. The series follows the highs and lows that they encounter as they plan, and arrange their own wedding.

Throughout the series, Hitched will feature weddings that are slightly off the radar – the more unusual the better. The kooky couple who want their wedding to be comedic and chaotic, the couple whose different religions force them to marry twice, the virgins who have more cause for wedding nerves than most. There are missing marriage licenses, misplaced rings, dogs down the aisle and a last minute suspected affair. Hitched hones in on all the stresses and madness leading up to and on the big day itself.

But let’s not forget a wedding is still the most romantic thing a couple can do – so the one thing that’s guaranteed is church loads of emotion. A glorious wedding always brings out the best in people. There will be singing and dancing, tears and laughter, and the big day will be a day everyone will always remember.

Make sure not to miss the first of these explosively exciting tales when Hitched premieres on Tuesday, June 30th at 8pm on 3.
