Episode 102Homeland details announced

A few details have been released regarding the third season of Homeland. An official release from Showtime says that the season opens “during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that decimated the U.S. intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist — Nick Brody (Damian Lewis).  As Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody’s whereabouts.”

Dallas renewed for third season

BlueRoseNew Kiwi drama series The Blue Rose has picked up some recognition overseas by being nominated in the Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo.

The South Pacific Pictures drama, which features former Outrageous Fortune duo Antonia Prebble and Siobhan Marshall, is one of the 12 productions nominated in the Drama TV Series category.

It’s fair to say The Blue Rose will have some tough competition. It’s up against the likes of Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Doctor Who to name a few. Continue reading »

The Claire Danes “cry face” meme did the rounds last year and it appears we’re not done with it just yet.

American website CollegeHumor has released a new “Homeland RPG” video that parodies the show and its characters, especially Danes and her “cry face”.

HomelandCarrieOn an entertainment level, a lot of people would agree that Homeland really hits the mark but it should come as no surprise that in terms of accurately portraying the intelligence community, it appears to leave a lot to be desired.

“At the very least the show is entertaining, albeit very very unrealistic” is how one actual intelligence analyst described the drama series.

“[No TV show] really gets intelligence work right, and the reason is because intelligence work makes for boring TV. A “real” spy [show] would probably involve lots of Powerpoint presentations, and lots of people huddled over computers (still running windows xp) with empty cans of Redbull/Monster surrounding them.”

They also pointed to the character of Carrie (Claire Danes) as being highly unrealistic, given some of her actions on the show. Continue reading »
