441476-how-i-met-your-dadFans who were hopeful of the spin off to How I Met Your Mother getting picked up by CBS may be in for some bad news. CBS has passed on the new series How I Met Your Dad.

Deadline reported

CBS’ option on HIMYD expires today, so, unless a miracle happens, the project is dead at CBS. 20th TV, which has been very bullish on the pilot, plans to shop it to other networks, and I hear it already has received interest. I hear the studio is looking to make a decision over the next week, with executives confident that HIMYD would go to series somewhere. Continue reading »

Krysta Rodriguez, who was to play one of the leads in the CBS spin off of How I Met Your Mother is leaving the pilot.  Rodriguez was to play Sally’s best friend Juliet, a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country but the character underwent changes after the table read.

Nick D’Agosto and Andrew Santino will join Greta Gerwig in the new comedy along side Drew Tarver and Krysta Rodriguez.

The show tells a “HIMYM”-esque story from a female point of view (Gerwig’s character of Sally). D’Agosto will play Frank, Juliet’s (Rodriguez) coworker who falls for Sally, while Santino will take the role of Danny, an uptight lawyer and Sally’s older brother.  Continue reading »

himym2012How I Met Your Mother co-creator Craig Thomas has dropped a few details regarding the ninths and final season of the comedy series.

Thomas says they were always going to reveal the identity of the unseen “mother” sometime during the series.

“The plan has always been to meet this girl at some point,” he says. “I think we would be forbidden from show business if we ended the series without meeting the mother, and rightfully so. They want to make sure, I guess, that the audience knows they’re not going to be jerked around or short changed in any way.”

Thomas says he and fellow creator Carter Bays mapped out the eighth season keeping in mind that they may not reach a ninth season. Continue reading »

After months of speculation How I Met Your Mother has officially been renewed for a ninth and final season.

While several cast members have said in the past that the show was definitely returning, the CBS network had yet to make the official announcement until now.

CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said in a statement: “Through eight years, How I Met Your Mother has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop culture catch-phrases. We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans.” Continue reading »
