Hyperdrive

MONDAY 9th February

Can the crew of the HMS Camden Lock unmask the traitor on board before Earth is destroyed?

Entrusted with leading the convoy guarding Britain’s new super-weapon (30 years late and over budget), the Camden Lock finds its position has been betrayed. It is evident that there is a traitor on board, and all the officers are under suspicion.

Who has jeopardised their lives and the lives of everyone on Earth? The race is on to find the mole before the Earth is destroyed.

MONDAY 2nd February

It’s another chance to catch the second series of the critically acclaimed Hyperdrive.

Commander Henderson and his team are powering their way through the galaxy once again, still promoting the tourist wonders and business opportunities of the UK. No matter what the mission, the crew of the Camden Lock can jump to action at a moment’s notice – as long as they are not celebrating Shoegiving Day or making reverse polarity cheese sandwiches.

Episode One:

Commander Henderson is invited to join Britain’s premier space-o-batics team, led by Squadron Leader Mason, who, 20 years ago, had a fling with Henderson’s Diplomatic Officer, Teal.

Mason, reunited with his former lover, is jealous of Teal’s feelings for Henderson and decides to take drastic action.

Meanwhile, First Officer York reveals the results of his terrifying scientific experiment, despite Henderson’s frequent warnings that “creation is God’s work alone”.

FINAL – HYPERDRIVE

COMEDY

With a vital inspection imminent, it’s the ideal time for Henderson to step down and the crew to riot. During a round of routine psychological tests, the Camden Lock is fired upon. Mistaking it for part of the evaluation, Henderson ignores the sounds of the destruction. But could it be his last mistake? Furious with Henderson’s continuing incompetence, Space Marshal Clarke orders a Category J inspection. Every inch, nut, bolt and shoelace of the ship will be triple-inspected for compliance. Morale nosedives. No one has ever passed a Category J – that’s why it was invented. Henderson finally admits defeat and retreats to await his dismissal. York, however, is determined to whip the crew into shape in time. He enjoys being in charge – but the rest of the crew don’t like his rules and respond by rioting. Meanwhile, wise aliens are in psychic contact with Vine. They are offering him the chance to become an immortal galactic supreme being. Will he join them?

HYPERDRIVE

COMEDY

Hyperdrive is a six-part British sci-fi comedy set in 2151 that follows the crew of the HMS Camden Lock as they travel throughout the galaxy trying to convince alien governments to relocate their busineses to Britain. The series stars Nick Frost (Spaced, Hot Fuzz) as Commander Henderson, Kevin Eldon (Smack The Pony, Green Wing) as York and Miranda Hart (Nighty Night) as Teal. Tonight: Clare. While scanning the galaxy for drug smugglers, the Camden Lock encounters the ship of famous round-the-galaxy solo spacewoman, Clare Winchester (Sally Phillips). Concerned that being so long alone in space might have made Clare a bit loopy, and excited by the thought of meeting a real celebrity, Henderson drops in for an extremely ill-advised visit. He finds Clare a mass of neuroses and superstitions (she also appears to have a tortuous relationship with a ‘Mr Cup’). When his poster of an orangutan fails to improve her outlook, they end up having a row. Desperate to cheer her up, Henderson resorts to more and more flattery until Clare finally forgives him. But things quickly get out of control when she decides to keep him on her ship against his will. Meanwhile, back on the Camden Lock, Sandstrom has contracted a computer virus called Ploppymouth Two, rendering her useless and very rude. And York’s newly instated self-defence drills are toughening the crew up, but will they be tough enough to rescue the Commander?

Henderson has his eye on a Nobel Peace Prize when the Bulaah and the Lallakiss arrive at the Camden Lock for negotiations over the rights to an asteroid. Discarding Teal’s complex agendas in favour of a ‘man-to-thing’ chat, Henderson raises the stakes of the negotiation by threatening to blow up the disputed rock if they don’t agree to share it. But the game of chicken goes badly wrong and the asteroid is destroyed. Suddenly the two feuding alien species forget their differences, and declare war on Britain.

HYPERDRIVE: Weekend Off
SERIES
Tuesday 19 June at 9:30pm

It is 2151, and the British have launched a fleet of spaceships to explore the galaxy in the only way the British can: with a stiff upper lip and regular tea breaks. Their mission? Not to seek out new life and new civilisations, but to boldly protect British interests in a changing universe by encouraging aliens to relocate their businesses to the East of England and take holidays in The Lake District.

It’s Gary Neville Day, the holiday which celebrates the 21st-century footballer and inventor of Artificial Gravity. Everyone on the Camden Lock has been given the whole weekend off to let their hair down and take a well-earned break. Traditionally, the crew hold the Cadet’s Ball and extend a courtesy invitation to the Commander. Instead, in a more appropriate tradition, the Commander holds a dinner with fine wine and Wotsits for the officers. Meanwhile, Vine has blown all his savings and bought an entire planet in an internet auction. He decides to use weekend off to visit ‘Vineworld’ with Jeffers – whether he likes it or not. His initial excitement quickly wears off when he discovers that the planet appears to be a useless, poisonous ball of clay. But he still insists it is a bargain.

Space Commander Henderson has arranged a meeting with the strange, new planet of Queppu. This is his chance to speak to the peoples of a planet – to make history. Instead, Henderson, Teal and York are greeted with crossbow fire and accused of being rebels against the leader. When they are sentenced to a lingering death, the Princess Layvia begs her father for their release. So instead, they are invited to join in Set Feast No 2. Annoyed by the growing attraction between Henderson and Layvia, Teal drinks to the point of embarrassment, throwing them out of favour once more and the mission in jeopardy. It’s down to Technical Officer Jeffers to rescue them. But Jeffers, left in charge of the ship, has taken the opportunity to exercise some of the ship’s more advanced technical capabilities – in a race.

HYPERDRIVE: A Gift From The Glish.
SERIES – NEW
Tuesday 5 June at 9:30pm

It is 2151, and the British have launched a fleet of spaceships to explore the galaxy in the only way the British can: with a stiff upper lip and regular tea breaks. Their mission? Not to seek out new life and new civilisations, but to boldly protect British interests in a changing universe by encouraging aliens to relocate their businesses to the East of England and take holidays in The Lake District.

Space Commander Henderson is determined to sell business space in the Peterborough Enterprise Zone to The Glish, a race of permanently-moist aliens who lick each other in greeting. However, the meeting doesn’t go as planned. Despite Peterborough’s buzzing café culture and farmers’ market, the Glish are hesitant and must do a lot of hand and facelicking before they sign. When the deal falls through, Space Force demands that the Camden Lock crew finds another investor by the end of the week. Meanwhile, Vine shorts out the navigational system with a cup of coffee and the ship’s systems are in disarray. And to make matters worse, there just might be an alien man-eating parasite on board.
