PLAYHOUSE DISNEY – Sunday 1 February, 10am-2pm

“Imagination Movers,” a daily, music-driven live-action series for preschoolers starring New Orleans’ favourite alternative rock band of the same name, will be seen in a morning-long rock concert programming event featuring eight episodes on SUNDAY, 1 FEBRUARY (8:00am – 12:00 noon, AEDT and 10:00am -2:00pm NZDT) on the learning-focused Playhouse Disney Channel.  The series, filmed entirely in New Orleans, introduces preschoolers to the Imagination Movers’ energetic rock and roll music while emphasising creative problem solving skills.

Parents and preschoolers can also create their own illustrations for an interactive storybook, play multi-level games and listen to musical activities at www.playhousedisney.au and www.playhousedisney.co.nz.

The popular Imagination Movers are: Rich Collins, a former journalist and father of five young children; Scott Durbin, an award-winning teacher and father of two young children; Dave Poche, an architect and father of two young children; and Scott “Smitty” Smith, a New Orleans fire fighter who was a member of the Katrina search-and-rescue effort.

“Imagination Movers” features the blue-suited band Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty, as everyday guys, brain-stormers working hard to solve “idea emergencies” in their Idea Warehouse, a place of infinite inspiration. Each 30-minute episode features five songs presented in music video style performances. Three songs are repeated in every episode, while two new original songs revolving around each episode’s storyline will be introduced.

The quartet started writing music for their own children and went on to perform nationwide in high-energy, interactive rock/hip-hop concerts. Their funky, catchy songs, which have won over critics, parents and kids alike, are heard on satellite radio where they have topped the charts. They have won multiple national music awards and were named a Parenting Pick by Parenting Magazine in the U.S..

Skot Bright and Sascha Penn (“Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “Dave Chappelle’s Block Party”) are executive producers. Band members Collins, Durbin, Poche and Smith are co-executive producers, along with Emmy Award-winning writer/producer Rick Gitelson (“Handy Manny,” “Rugrats”). “Imagination Movers” is produced by Penn Bright Entertainment and Zydeco Productions in association with Disney Channel.
