Jack Osbourne’s Adrenaline Rush

Thursday January 18th at 7:30pm pm TV2:

Jack Osbourne, first son of the world’s most famous TV family, is on a mission. He wants to take on one of the planet’s most extreme climbing challenges – El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

El Cap is a vertical kilometre of sheer rock in California’s Yosemite Valley – an extreme undertaking even by the standards of hardened professionals. Jack will make this climb spending five days on the rock face, sleeping each night on tiny portable ledges thousands of feet above the ground.

There is a small snag in this plan – Jack is virtually a complete novice at climbing, unfit and about 56 lbs (25 kilos) overweight. He’s devised a plan to reach his inspirational goal.

Phase one is to get Jack in shape. To do so, Jack will travel the globe under the guidance of his close friend, Mike Weeks. In the process they will drop in and out of some of the world’s hippest extreme sports playgrounds to put him through a series of extreme health and self-improvement regimes. He’ll attend, for example, the world’s toughest Thai kick boxing school in Thailand where he can look forward to a regime of 5 a.m. starts and endless physical punishment meted out by the cream of the martial art in the form of ‘The Man’ – a real Thai Kick Boxer – with parents Sharon and Ozzy watching helplessly from the ring side. He’ll also undergo a savage course of colonic irrigation on a paradise beach to rid himself of the detritus of a lifetime of burger munching and a weeklong detox.

Phase two of the plan is to take a hopefully trimmer Jack and test and strengthen his nerve. He’ll be put through some of the world’s most exciting and challenging outdoor sports. He will jump off Verdon Gorge in France – a sheer rock face of 1,000 ft to conquer his fear of falling. He will run with the bulls in Pamplona – literally be chased by wild bulls through the narrow streets of this Spanish town. Finally he’ll use ice axes and crampons to ice climb to an altitude of 12,000 ft in the Alps.

This fast-paced, thrilling and intimate series also features exclusive and in-depth interviews with Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. This is the story of Jack’s very personal journey from celebrity brat to rugged man as he prepares for a journey few people would dare to take on physically and mentally. In the process his joys, tears, heartaches and triumphs are all captured as he faces dangerous, tough conditions and apparently insurmountable challenges.
