Lost actor joining NCIS

Former Lost actor Sam Anderson will make a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of crime show NCIS. Anderson, who played Bernard Nadler on Lost, will take on the role of a school teacher who becomes involved with the NCIS crew when on of his students of kidnapped.

Abrams and Nolan team for crime series

J.J. Abrams is teaming with The Dark Knight and The Prestige co-writer Jonah Nolan, brother of Inception director Christopher, in developing a new crime series for television. Abrams is also currently working on another drama based around Alcatraz.

Jersey Shore specials on the way

A pair of Jersey Shore specials are set to be created for MTV- the first will be a reunion show which will see the cast come together after filming the third season while the second will a behind-the-scenes feature.

Fallon pays tribute to departed TV favourites

Emmy Awards host Jimmy Fallon paid homage to finished TV shows Lost, 24 and Law & Order at the ceremony last night by adapting pop songs. Fallon dressed as Elton John, Billie Joe Armstrong and Boyz II Men for the various tributes, in which he poked fun at the continuity of 24 and the often confusing nature of Lost.

Trump to appear on Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl is bolstering its guest star ranks for the upcoming season with Ivanka Trump signing on to appear in an episode alongside her husband. The daughter of The Apprentice’s Donald Trump will play herself on the show in what is described as a “quick cameo”.

Jersey Shore cast sued

The entire cast of MTV reality series Jersey Shore is being sued by a woman who claims she was assaulted by the show’s security team. The woman asserts that she was thrown to the ground after engaging in a war of words with one of the show’s primary cast members.

Pacino expresses interest in Modern Family

Following the Emmy Awards last night, winning actor Al Pacino spoke to reporters saying he would be interested in a guest spot on Outstanding Comedy Series winner Modern Family. The actor expressed an interest on guest starring on the show in which one of his close friends – Jesse Ferguson – is a series regular.

Michael Cera developing TV series

Michael Cera is developing a new comedy series called 13th Grade which will centre on a high school graduate who is stuck in limbo between childhood and adulthood. Cera will work with Derek Waters on the show, who has previously been seen on The Middle and The Sarah Silverman Programme.

Fox quits television

Former Lost actor Matthew Fox has declared he will never work on television again after spending more than 12 years working for the small screen. Fox, who featured on Party of Five before Lost, added that he is keen to take on more theatre role sin the future.

Susan Boyle auto-tuned?

Amid controversy that the latest season of The X Factor in the UK is employing the use of auto-tuners on its auditioning contestants, newspapers are reporting that Susan Boyle’s famous audition on Britain’s Got Talent was “smoothed out” in post production.

Jersey Shore spin-off planned

Jersey Shore producer Sally Ann Salsano is developing a new Southern-based version of the reality show format. With a working title of Party Down South, the project is being developed for Comedy Central.

Chuck casts villains

Chuck has cast a trio of villains for the show’s fourth season, including The Expendables actor Eric Roberts. Roberts will be joined by Joel David Moore and WWE wrestler Batista on the next season which will screen here next year.

Emmy presenters announced

The first crop of presenters have been announced for the upcoming Emmy Awards. Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, Glee’s Matthew Morrison, Mad Men’s January Jones, The Office’s John Krasinski and Ricky Gervais will all present awards at the Jimmy Fallon-hosted ceremony which takes place on August 29.

Desperate Housewives actor joins Gossip Girl

Desperate Housewives and Mad Men actor Sam Page has joined the cast of Gossip Girl for the upcoming season. Page, who played Bree’s scheming step-son on DH recently, will reportedly join the series as a love interest for one of the major characters.

Mandy Moore to return to Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy will regain singer-turned-actress Mandy Moore for the seventh season of the medical drama. Moore has agreed to reprise her role as a patient called Mary who featured in the show’s sixth season.

Soap star to guest on Bones

Soap actor Antonio Sabato Jr. will make an appearance on the latest season of Bones on an episode which has been dubbed as “Jersey Shore-themed”. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from the MTV show was also to appear on the episode but talks have since broken down with the reality star.

Conchords to share Simpsons ep with Glee

The Flight of the Conchords will share the same Simpsons episode as Glee cast members Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) who has been confirmed to voice characters on the show. The episodes will be set at a performing arts camp where Bret and Jermaine will be playing camp counsellors.

The Situation to guest on Bones?

Bones producers are attempting to sign up Jersey Shore cast member Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino to appear in a future episode as a murder victim. Word is if they are successful there will be a sly nod to the MTV reality series in the episode.

Susan Boyle close to Glee deal

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed they are close to sealing a deal which would see Susan Boyle appear on the show’s second season. Murphy said they are lining up the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up to play a dinner lady on the show.

Glee creator developing new series 

Murphy has also confirmed that he is in the early stages of developing a new musical series with Emmy-winning actress and Glee guest star Kristin Chenoweth. Murphy has been quick to point out the series will not be a Glee spin-off, saying it will be separate from and more adult.

To celebrate the second season of Jersey Shore, MTV New Zealand and Event Cinemas are teaming up to host ‘Jersey Shore Night Out’ an exclusive movie event to be held in Auckland and Hamilton.

‘Jersey Shore Night Out’ will give fans the chance to reacquaint themselves with their favourite guidos and guidettes with ‘Jersey Shore: Before the Shore’ and ‘Jersey Shore: Season One, Episode One’ recapping the best of all the fist pumping, fake tan and hair gel action from last season.

The evening will culminate in an exclusive screening of the FIRST EPISODE from the NEW SEASON giving Jersey Shore fans a chance to be the first in New Zealand to see Season Two before it hits TV screens.

Season Two sees our favourite characters hit the shores of South Beach, Miami bringing us twelve riveting new episodes. MTV viewers in New Zealand are hooked on Jersey Shore and its colorful cast of characters.  Their bond and loyalty to one another gives the show its heart.  “We’re thrilled to see the cast reunited bringing fans more of what they love – boozing, brawling and plenty of  GTL (gym, tan and laundry),” said Laura Glassman, MTV NZ Channel Manager.  “It’s no wonder Jersey Shore is MTV New Zealand’s top-rated show”.

Flashforward to be revived?

Positive news for fans of axed drama series Flashforward with news that US network Starz is “aggressively seeking” the licence for the show which was cancelled by ABC after its first season. The network is reportedly interested in producing new episodes after ongoing public protests regarding its demise.

MasterChef bumps election debate

The popularity of MasterChef Australia across the ditch has forced new Prime Minister Julia Gillard and opposition rival Tony Abbott to reschedule their live election debate this Sunday night. The finale of the current season of the cooking show takes place in the primetime slot and due to its overwhelming popularity the debate will be cut down and rushed through earlier in the night.

Daily Show actress for Chuck

The Daily Show correspondent Olivia Munn will make a guest appearance on the new season of Chuck this year. Munn, who regularly acts on a comedy series in the US, will play an intimidating CIA agent alongside Chuck.

Jersey Shore nears pay resolution

Production is expected to continue on the third season of Jersey Shore soon with news major cast members “The Situation” and “Pauly D” have both signed new deals. The cast strike which began earlier in the week looks close to being settled with the rest of the cast expected to sign in the near future.

Roberts to guest on The Middle

Former Everybody Loves Raymond actress Doris Roberts will make a guest appearance on new comedy series The Middle next season. Roberts will join fellow Raymond actress Patricia Heaton who plays Frankie on the second season of the show.

The office will continue – Carell

Soon-to-be-departed The Office actor Steve Carell has insisted the comedy series will still continue after he leaves at the end of next season. He says that although the main character is leaving the show has enough talent to survive once he departs.

Lawless to reprise role

Kiwi actress Lucy Lawless will reprise her role in the upcoming sequel series to Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The American swords and sandals series, which films in New Zealand, will shoot a six-part second series with Aussie actor Dustin Clare (Underbelly, Satisfaction) in the lead role.

Outrageous adaptation struggles

The American adaptation of treasured Kiwi drama series Outrageous Fortune is slipping in the ratings during its first season run in the US. Scoundrels, which follows a family similar to the Wests, is struggling in its summer slot and was down a further 13% this week.


Jersey Shore strike

The cast of Jersey Shore are striking due to the fact they don’t believe $10,000 each per episode is enough for them. The cast of the MTV show are refusing to shoot any scenes for the third season until the network coughs up more money.

FlashForward actor joins The Good Wife

Michael Ealy is joining the cast of The Good Wife for at least 10-episodes in the upcoming season. Ealy, who recently played Marshall Vogel on the now-cancelled FlashForward, will take on the role of the head of a Washington D.C. firm in the drama series.

MasterChef to get own TV show?

Last year’s MasterChef Australia winner Julie Goodwin is rumoured to be getting her very own food show on one of the prime networks in Australia. Perhaps our own MasterChef New Zealand champ Brett McGregor should be scheduling a meeting with TVNZ…

CSI resigns actress

CSI has re-signed another of its cast members in the form of Jorja Fox for another season. Fox, who stars as Sara Sidle on the series, will return in either as a regular or in an extended recurring role.
