Forty New Zealand celebrities are competing for laughs and a whole lot of money, in a no holds barred, high stakes game of poker that will ultimately benefit charity over six weeks in Joker Poker, screening Sunday, January 21st at 10:30pm.

Joker Poker is a weekly late-night show hosted by passionate poker player Brooke Howard-Smith featuring New Zealand’s top celebrities out-witting and out bluffing each other in the enthralling contest of no limit Texas hold’em poker.

Poker is a game of skill and strategy and each of the celebrities will be competing to win the “pot” – a share of a $100,000 prize pool that will ultimately benefit the celebrity’s charity of choice.

Co-hosted by New Zealand poker pro Lee Nelson who, over the past five years, has consistently made final-table ap¬pearances in international tournaments. So many, in fact, that he’s now known by the nickname ‘Final Table’.

In January of this year Lee took on over 400 poker players from all over the world to be the last man standing, taking home $1.2 million in the main event of the Crown Casino Aussie Millions, and cementing his place as poker royalty.

Lee has the amazing ability to anticipate, explain and demystify what’s happening at the centre stage table, and take the audience on a roller coaster ride.

Celebrities competing in Joker Poker include; TV3 personalities Jon Bridges, Nathan Rarere and Oscar Kightley; All Blacks Ali Williams, Angus McDonald, Doug Howlett and Luke McAlister; musicians Che Fu, P Money, and James Reid; as well as TV personalities Clark Gayford, Dai Henwood and many more.

The celebrities will be playing their cards for such charities as The SPCA, Starship Children’s Hospital, Breast Cancer, Kidz First, Special Olympics and Variety.

Tune in to the 3’s exciting late-night celebrity poker extravaganza Joker Poker over six weeks, screening Sunday, January 21st at 10:30pm.
