World Flight are offering the chance to spend an hour with a New Zealand celebrity at the controls of a Boeing 737 flight simulator as part of a fundraising exercise for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Last night on C4’s Jono’s New Show the winner of Dai’s Protege Project was revealed as 21 year old “Guy Williams” of Wellington.  Guy was selected by Dai as one of three finalists and was flown to Auckland to perform in front of a live crowd.  21 year old Guy stood out to Henwood who said,  “Guy had strong material that will work well  in front of a big crowd. He has a defined style and I know he’ll commit to delivering a solid performance during my festival show.”  Guy favors  ‘ awkward situational comedy ‘  and indeed, his apparant awkwardness on stage is part of his appeal!   Guy Williams will open for Dai Henwood on his upcoming Comedy Festival Tour “Shabba”.  Don’t miss out, tickets are available now through ticketek.co.nz

Woman’s Day features stars Fleur Saville, Will Hall, Harry McNaughton, Anna Julliene and Henry Williams at Auckland Zoo trialling out the new Zoom tours where you get up close and personal with the animals.  Fleur says if she had to be an animal, she’s be a super cute meerkat.  Will would be either an otter or a rhino. 

“I never thought I’d get to feed a lion with a pair of barbeque tongs! It’s a moment I’ll treasure forever – from the time he roared in my face and I smelt his raw meat breath, to the point where he lifted his tail and tried to spray his alpha-male scent all over us!” – Will Hall.

Dancing with the Stars

A wedding photo of Brendon Pongia and his new wife Michelle grace the cover of the Woman’s Weekly this week.  The pair, who only met six months ago, released a dozen monarch butterflies during their March 10 ceremony in the Hawke’s Bay.  Michelle wore a designer dress by Caroline Castigliano and Brendan wore an Armani suit.  They’re honeymooning in the Marlborough Sounds.  Yet to be arranged is where they will live – Michelle is still based in London and Brendan in Wellington!

“I must have looked like the cat who got the cream!” says Pongia.  

Jason Gunn admits he thought Chris Hobbs would be the first contestant to leave the show.

New Zealand’s Next Top Model

Woman’s Day has a double page spread profiling the remaining contestants but it’s just a basic summary of the show to date.  Sarah Yearbury says she didn’t see it as giving up when she pulled out:   “We had so many laughs, so much fun.  The girls are lovely, but I missed my daughter… if it doesn’t make you happy you shouldn’t feel like you’re forcing yourself into doing something.”

Jono’s New Show

Jono Pryor is interviewed in Woman’s Day about the new season of Jono’s New Show which starts Monday 6th April at 8:30pm on C4.  Highlights include Dai Henwood looking for a protege, Dai’s new character “Yousef” – a house DJ from Tokoroa.  Matt Heath and Chris Tapp have a segment called DICKS.  And of course there’s more of Jimmy the Dwarf.

Kiwi star Anna Hutchison tells Woman’s Weekly she’s fine about her nude scenes and risque outfits in Aussie TV show Underbelly: The Mr Asia Story:  “I was prepared for it.  I’m comfortable with my body.”  Anna has relocated to Sydney and is dating Jason Smith (Robbie Hunter on Home and Away).

C4 is chuffed to confirm the unexpected win by Jono’s New Show for BEST ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME 2008 at the Qantas Television & Film Awards last night!

Jono’s New Show was up against competition from Dancing with the Stars and Dare to Win. Said Jono of the shows win ” Maaate, I can’t believe this” Adding later – “Seriously, if my mum had the perfect son he would be half Jason Gunn half Dominic Bowden. She’ll be gutted!” (What he said later – thanks to celebrationary champers – was barely discernible, but we’re sure it was full of thanks for the honour!)

Jono’s New Show is an hour long topical blend of celebrity interviews, hidden camera stunts and public opinion. Host Jono Pryor has been with C4 since channel launch in 2003 and is also a popular DJ on The Rock. Earlier this year Jono won an NZ Radio Award for Best-Non Breakfast Personality.

Jono’s New Show is a C4 production – made by a small but very hardworking team. A brand new season now screens Monday’s at 8.30pm. Cast includes Jono Pryro, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, Jimmy the Dwarf and Joe Cotton. Jono’s New Show is produced by Charlotte Hobson with Josh Thompson directing. Angela Mann has been Executive Producer for both seasons.
