NICKELODEON – Friday 7 October, 9.30pm (Orange Carpet from 9pm)

The ‘Road to Slime’ for 2011 has almost reached its destination: the votes are counted, the slime is primed and the stage is set to sizzle! In a night full of fresh new musical performances, huge surprises, awesome stars, and Nick blimp trophies, winners will be revealed on Friday October 7 at 9pm at the Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2011, exclusive to Nickelodeon.

Now in its 9th year, the Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are the only televised awards where every category is voted for by kids, celebrating their favourites with a colossal party that brings kids and celebs together with bucket loads of Nick slime. This year’s categories once again included kids’ faves in music, movies and TV…but for the first time ever Nickelodeon is taking the slime all the way to the top! We’ve asked kids to nominate their official ‘Slime Minister’ in either Julia Gillard or Tony Abbott – they each talk good game, but which leader do kids think is “greener”? And will either of them actually prove it and ‘Go Green’ on stage at this year’s awards?

In other new categories this year, kids will proclaim who’s the freshest out of Cody Simpson, Samara Weaving, Willow Smith and Victoria Justice, with the ‘Super Fresh Award’. Only one KCA veteran will be voted into the super-honourable new ‘Hall of Slime’: either ROVE, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Guy Sebastian, or Bindi and Robert Irwin. Plus, the hotly contested ‘Get Real Award’ amongst reality TV shows Australia’s Got Talent, Nickelodeon’s Camp Orange, X Factor, and MasterChef will be bestowed upon the reality show that “really” has kids hooked! And you’re never too old to be a big kid, but only one can win ‘Awesome Oldie Award’.

Will it be Karl Stefanovic, David ‘Kochie’ Koch, Kerri-Anne Kennerly, or Matt Preston? Over ten thousand litres of slime have been unleashed since the first Australian Kids’ Choice Awards in 2003, and this year Nickelodeon promises to deliver the ultimate ‘slime of your life’ experience which kids, families and celebrities have come to expect. Past guests and award-winners at the show include Jessica Mauboy, Liam Hemsworth, iCarly’s Jerry Trainor, ROVE, Cody Simpson, Amy Meredith, Guy Sebastian, Rachael Finch, Matt Preston, Natalie Imbruglia, Zac Efron, Good Charlotte, The Veronicas, Delta Goodrem, Miranda Cosgrove, Justice Crew, Short Stack, Bindi Irwin, Shaun Micaleff, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Shane Warne, and more. Don’t miss the Australian premiere episode of iCarly, “iPity the Nevel” at 8:30pm prior to the Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2011.

Mega-stars including Johnny Depp, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, The Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus, Jennette McCurdy, Eddie Murphy and Shaquille O’Neal reigned as this year’s kid Favourites, winning top honours at Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards earlier today.

The spectacular show will be fast-tracked to Kiwi audiences tonight at 6.30pm on Nickelodeon.

Hosted by actor/comedian Jack Black and broadcast from the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles, kids’ top choices in television, movies, music and sports were revealed in innovative ways, such as via slime slushie, a cheerleader and even a bear on a unicycle!

Black proved that nothing was going to get in the way of his arrival at the venue – especially not a long limo line – by making a grand entrance in the Kids’ Choice monster truck. With the help of a dancing flash mob along the orange carpet, he kicked off the slime-fest with his own rockin’ rendition of The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling.” The KCA and Grammy Award-winning chart toppers then took center stage with a medley of hit songs “Just Can’t Get Enough” and “The Time” featuring Black – the Honourary Pea!

Throughout the show, orange blimps were presented to Johnny Depp for Favourite Movie Actor (after which he doused the mosh pit in slime); Miley Cyrus for Favourite Movie Actress; The Karate Kid for Favourite Movie andDespicable Me for Favourite Animated Movie.Jackie Chan won top honours for Favourite Buttkicker and Eddie Murphy took home the blimp for Favourite Voice from an Animated Movie for his role of Donkey in Shrek Forever After. In the television categories, Favourite TV Show went to iCarly; Favourite Reality Show to American Idol; Favourite Cartoon to SpongeBob SquarePants; Favourite TV Actor to Dylan Sprouse; Favourite TV Actress to Selena Gomez and Funniest TV Sidekick to Jennette McCurdy. During the show, Nickelodeon stars and music group Big Time Rush were joined onstage by surprise guest Snoop Dogg to perform their current single “Boyfriend,” off their newly-certified Gold debut album BTR. Willow Smith made an aerial entrance as the mosh pit moved and grooved to her hit songs “21st Century Girl” and “Whip My Hair” and even KCA winner Eddie Murphy got in on the musical action as he led the audience in an impromptu “Happy Birthday” song to himself. The Big Show helped set a slime record for the first-ever super cyclone monster truck jump into 7600 gallons of goop; Heidi Klum was doused in typical slime-tastic fashion and Jason Segel got a face of the green goo too. While Britney Spears escaped being slimed, she was no match against Kung Fu Panda’s Po and his bowl of noodles.

Rosario Dawson presented former Kids’ Choice Awards host and winner Justin Timberlake with Nickelodeon’s The Big Help Award in recognition of his ongoing charitable work as a philanthropist with Shriners Hospitals for Children®. The Big Help Award recognizes individuals who take actions to better the world and whose significant impact on their community has inspired kids to do the same.

Jim Carrey made an appearance in an orange hot air balloon, dropping slime into the mosh pit and finishing off the night with Host Jack Black as it should be – epic and SLIMY!
