London Visions With Peter Ackroyd

ARTS CHANNEL – Mondays from 9 April, 8.00pm

A centre for the Arts – in winter, spring and summer… and at every time of the day and night: a series that is accompanied by classical music and poetry. We go behind the scenes at the Royal Ballet School, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the National Gallery. We explore the Thames – as it is today and as it was captured on canvas over the past 300 years. We look at London’s architecture, including the Tower of London, the Palace of Westminster… even Highgate Cemetery. And we meet all those for whom London is a daily performance; from the Household Division changing guard at Buckingham Palace, through the choristers of St. Paul’s Cathedral, to the member of DIVA Opera Company in The Barber of Seville. This fascinating series meets the people who make the city tick – in fact, our cameras are everywhere to show what can only be described as ‘Hidden London’ – seen by the few and bypassed by the many.
