How many people do I know who are now more than likely to attend Armageddon for the first time?

New Zealand’s biggest pulp-culture event, the Armageddon Expo is proud to announce the world’s most recognised DIY action hero will be attending the Auckland event at the ASB Showgrounds from October 24th to 27th.

Richard Dean Anderson is known to kiwi audiences as Angus MacGyver, the ultimate Boy Scout who used his brains over brawn to defeat the bad guys each week on the hugely popular TV series from 1985 to 1994. Continue reading »

One of the big TV villians of my childhood was MacGyver’s Murdoc. He freaked me out and possibly even gave me nightmares.  Now, however, one crazy fan is acting as Michael Des Barres very own Murdoc which now has actor fearing for his safety.

Michael Des Barres played master assassin Murdoc for several years on “MacGyver,” but now he’s afraid for real because of threats to kill him and his family. Continue reading »

THE BOX – Saturdays from 30 June, 8.30pm

Cue the iconic 80s theme-tune and grooving mullets; introducing the man, the legend – MacGyver.

Doing his best to outwit and outrun in typical MacGyver style, Mac often finds himself taken hostage in increasingly dire situations. In the premiere season of the hit show, this Bear Grylls of the eighties rocks off on several missions, doing his best to avoid physical confrontation and refusing to use a gun.

The BOX – Weekdays from Monday 31 January, 5pm

MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) is a contemporary hero and role model (well… he was in the 80’s) who applies his scientific knowledge to ordinary items to create for himself and others a means of escape from impending doom.

Trivia: The “MacGyverisims” shown in the series are all based on scientific fact, but not all of the steps needed to create the experiment were shown. This was done to prevent children who were watching the show from duplicating the experiments themselves and possibly getting injured.

Saturday 26th July 9.35pm

MacGyver returns home to find himself taken hostage in his own houseboat by an old archaeologist friend, Zoe. She needs his help in tracking down the Holy Rose, a hidden treasure for which only she has the clues.

Their search takes them to the British Museum and France but will they be able to save the Holy Rose from the clutches of the dastardly jewel-magnate?

The Complete Series of MacGyver is set to be released on May 22nd in the US. It will include all 139 episodes. No word yet on whether or not it will included the TV movies.

This site has a list of all the MacGyverisms ever done!

Remember gems such as “Cooking oil & furniture stuffing to incubate eagle eggs” and “Casket became a jetski”.

Does anybody know where I can find the two MacGyver movies (MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis and MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday)??? I have been searching for these forever, it seems, and would really LOVE to get my hands on them to complete my MacGyver collection 😉

Richard Dean Anderson stars as the hunky, ever-so-clever MacGyver in PRIME’s latest addition to its retro re-run stable.

Saturday 28th October at 2.30pm

MacGyver is a different kind of hero – he doesn’t use weapons, he is afraid of heights, and he is an expert at making complicated machines out of ordinary things. A fan, a dough-scraper and some duct tape forms an excellent helicopter attack. A cut credit card can help cause a traffic jam. A light bulb makes an outstanding set of lock picks…

Pete Thornton is Mac´s best friend, an ex-agent from the DXS who is now the director of field operations at a think tank called the Phoenix Foundation for Research.

Episode one:

After a science lab explodes, MacGyver must rescue scientists that are trapped underground, guarded by a deadly security system, before the nervous Army detonates a nuclear warhead.

Season 7

I was SO excited to see that season seven is FINALLY going to be available on 24 October!!! 🙂 I think this season was my most favourite in the whole show, to be honest … Any other Mac fans out there who want to reminisce with me?! 😉
