On Friday night, MTV Australia and New Zealand crowned their newest VJ, Kristian “Krit” Schmidt in front of the masses at a VIP party in Auckland. Krit beat out hundreds of hopefuls to take the title of MTV VJ, after competing in two days of challenges against the chosen Top Ten finalists.
Krit has been inundated with well wishes and support after his cousin, The Rock, congratulated him on Twitter. “I’ve been on a nonstop high since Friday and everyone has been sending me love. The Silver Linings Playbook actress credits this MTV ad for reality series My Super Sweet 16 as launching her career.

Lawrence was only 14 when she filmed the promo for the show.

MTV Australia and New Zealand are excited to announce local Aussie rock band Heroes For Hire as the Local Produce feature artist for August.  From today onwards, Heroes For Hire fans can head to MTV’s on-air and online platforms for exclusive live performances, behind the scenes access and interviews with the band.

In the seventh installment of Local Produce, Heroes For Hire will give their fans access to an intimate performance of their tracks All Messed Up, Secrets Lies and Sins and new crowd pleaser No Apologies. Kate will be joining Keiynan Lonsdale as an MTV Presenter and Jules as host of MTV’s brand new makeover show,  MTV Style Me.

Motorbike enthusiast, travel guru and international model, Kate Peck has been travelling the world for years. MTV has commissioned six new original shows across a range of genres. Underemployed and Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous are two scripted series given the green light with a further four reality shows on the way.

Sheen to present at Emmys

Charlie Sheen will present an award at the Emmys this week, a year after he was the butt of many of host Ricky Gervais’ jokes at last year’s ceremony. 

Kardashian to produce new Pussycat Dolls series

Kim Kardashian will executive produce a new reality series centring on the Pussycat Dolls. The series will follow the group which has recently reformed with a new line-up following the original group’s separation last year.

Bones mini-season ordered

American network Fox has ordered four additional stand-alone episodes of Bones. The episodes will act as a mini-season following the 13-episode run of the seventh season.

Gypsy Wedding spin-off commissioned

A My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding spin-off has been commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK. The new series will centre on dressmaker Thelma Madine as she hires ten gypsy trainees for her business.
