Now, as the series enters its latest 10 th season, these burning questions will finally be answered! NCIS returns to our screens on Tuesday, January 15 th at 8:30pm on 3. “We have a lot of cleaning up to do,” Rocky Carroll, who portrays NCIS Director Leon Vance, explains. “It was great to go out on a cliff-hanger that way. So many loose ends need to be tied up… It’s a real mess right now.” As for whether everyone will survive, Carroll says: “There could be some casualties… No characters are really expendable. Everybody loves the characters. I’m hoping everybody makes it out in one piece.”

The actor also suggests that the focus on the characters is what makes NCIS such a hit. “These characters are kind of loose and having fun with each other, then all of a sudden it’s a life and death situation,” he says.

“It’s a small element that really makes a big difference as far as how people invest in the characters.” Make sure not to miss the return of NCIS when the series screens on Tuesday, January 15 th at 8:30pm on 3.

It will be an unmissable instalment which will have a ripple effect on all those involved when NCIS concludes its ninth season on Tuesday, July 24 th at 8:30pm on 3. “People are going to be surprised by what happens,” executive producer Gary Glasberg explains. “There’s no doubt about that.”

Glasberg adds that “a lot of planning” has gone into this season finale, which will see Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team hunting Harper Dearing (Richard Schiff).

“This arc is something that we’ve been talking about for a while,” he explains. “And I think people are going to be, not only surprised, but really entertained by how it unfolds…”

“Anytime that the team gets to work mode as a cohesive unit, people enjoy that and respond to it. That’s definitely the case in terms of this storyline.”

According to Glasberg, this week’s finale will be much more than your average cat-and-mouse game. As the story unfolds, he says, “there are so many elements to it that connect directly to Gibbs that explain a lot of the motivation on Harper Dearing’s part [and] that will connect to Jamie Lee Curtis and even connect to Scott Wolf’s character…A lot of planning has gone into it.” But as NCIS deals with this very intense threat, there’s also a bit of joy to be found, as their friend and colleague Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) prepares to wed in Florida. Glasberg says this storyline will diffuse some of the tension caused by the Harper Dearing arc. “It’s a really fascinating juxtaposition of this Palmer moment with the manhunt that’s going on for Harper Dearing,” he says. “[Co-executive producer] Steve Binder came up with a really clever way of jumping back and forth between the two and weaving the two together. I think it worked really nicely and people are going to get the lighter moments that only NCIS could pull off. At the same time, we don’t miss a beat in terms of keeping the hunt going as well.” Make sure not to miss this when NCIS concludes its ninth season on Tuesday, July 24 th at 8:30pm on 3.

NCIS fans looking to learn more about how Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) became the woman she is today are in luck, this week sees Karina Lombard (The L Word) joining the hit series as Ziva’s long-time friend and mentor. NCIS continues its latest season on Tuesday, June 26 th at 8:30pm on 3. Lombard’s character, named Monique Lisson, was first alluded to in this year’s season premiere when Ziva made mention of a female friend she had in Central America.

“We established in the [season] opener that she has this friend who she was going to talk to and see,” executive producer Gary Glasberg explains to Entertainment Weekly. “In this episode, we’re actually going to meet this woman, who is a friend of Ziva’s who shares a bit of big sister relationship with her.” The episode, titled “The Missionary Position”, sends the team to Colombia to investigate the case of a missing Navy chaplain.

“She participates with us and helps us figure it out,” Glasberg continues. Along the way, you get an understanding of the relationship [between Ziva and her friend].”

All this is just a piece of the character-centric puzzle producers are putting together that will come into play heavily in the season finale. “[Ziva] is realising that she’s made decisions along the way. She has to decide how important a relationship is to her and what she really wants from her life too,” he says.

“It’s nice to be nine-and-a-half seasons into a show and feel like the characters are still figuring out who they are. I feel like there’s a long way to go. It is realistic.”
