Melissa_BellA classic Neighbours character will make a return this year.

The character of Lucy Robinson – sister of Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) – will return to the Australian soap for the first time since a brief appearance in the 20th anniversary episode in 2005.

Actress Melissa Bell plays the role, having first appeared in 1991 and staying until 1995. She is the third actress to play Lucy.

“I’m very pleased that on-screen Stefan is exactly the same – always up to something, which certainly makes for an interesting story – and off-screen he hasn’t changed either, just as much fun and lovely as ever,” Bell said. Continue reading »

BobMorleyAnother Aussie soap star has landed a big role in a new US pilot.

Following news that Home and Away’s Luke Mitchell has been cast in Tomorrow People, it’s been announced that Neighbours actor Bob Morley is joining a new pilot at The CW.

Morley, who has plays Aidan on Neighbours, has been cast in The Hundred, a drama pilot based on the forthcoming book series by Kass Morgan. Continue reading »

Neighbours is turning to its fans for a new version of its theme tune.

The Aussie soap is looking to revamp its current opening track and has started what they are describing as an “Ashes-style” contest between Australian and British fans.

They are asking fans to upload their own version of the iconic tune before a UK contender is selected to face off against an Aussie hopeful in order to win the chance to record the new cover.

KimRaverRaver joins new NCIS: LA spin-off

Former Grey’s Anatomy actress Kim Raver has joined the new NCIS: LA spin-off series, where she will play a special agent called Paris. Raver has also appeared in 24 and Revolution.

Former Neighbours actress gets pilot lead

Former Neighbours actress Adelaide Kane has landed the lead role in a new US pilot called Reign. Kane, who first featured on Neighbours in 2007, will play Mary Queen of Scots in the teen drama for The CW network. Continue reading »

Three major Neighbours characters will be leaving Ramsay Street next year.

Jordan Smith (Andrew), Ben Barber (Rhys) and Kaiya Jones (Sophie) will all depart the Aussie soap in 2013.

The news was confirmed on the official Neighbours Twitter page: “Yes they are [leaving]. We’ll miss those guys!”

Smith, who has been on the show since 2009, tweeted: “Thanks for tweets everyone. Awesome three n half years and now on to the next adventure.” Continue reading »

Everybody’s favourite Neighbours return from holiday tonight at 6pm on TV2.

When confronted by a furious Lucas, Toadie struggles to believe Peter would be behind Chris’ attack. However, when the police ask Toadie to help with their enquiries, he’s shocked to realise the full extent of Peter’s scheme. Toadie is interviewed, but doesn’t have many answers for the strong case mounting against him. Unable to prove his innocence, could Toadie end up being charged with Chris’ assault?

Knowing Chris could be in danger, Rhys searches frantically for him. When he finally finds Chris at the garage, it could already be too late. Forced to perform emergency surgery, Rhys improvises to get Chris breathing again before the ambulance arrives. But he’s not out of the woods yet, and Karl warns Rhys that he could end up being held accountable if Chris doesn’t pull through.

When Jade bails on their girls’ night out, Kate invites Emilia for a drink, determined to embrace her new lifestyle. Not used to partying hard, Kate pulls up rough but Emilia shows her the perfect way to conceal big nights out. What’s going on with Kate?

With the younguns eagerly waiting their final school results, nerves are running high. But as the summer celebrations begin for some, one of our favourite Neighbours takes a turn for the worse. With a life hanging in the balance, will help get there in time? Or will this be the end of the road -or street as the case may be – for this much-loved character?

Lewis joins Neighbours

Former Home and Away actor Lincoln Lewis has landed a four week role on rival Australian sitcom Neighbours. Lewis, who played Geoff on Home and Away, will also be appearing in the new Underbelly: Razor series premiering in NZ this week.

True Blood actor Joe Manganiello has signed on for a guest role on Two and a Half Men to play the boyfriend of the ex-wife of Ashton Kutcher’s new character.

Dent joins The Mentalist

Former The Shield actress Catherine Dent has signed up for a major recurring role in The Mentalist. Dent’s character is expected to clash with Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney). 

Showrunner for Sheen’s new sitcom

Charlie Sheen’s forthcoming sitcom Anger Management now has a showrunner in place in the form of Bruce Helford who has created sitcoms for the likes of Drew Carey in the past.

Legal comedy-drama Drop Dead Diva has been renewed for a fourth season by Lifetime in the US.

Lost actor joins new Sinbad series

Lost actor Naveen Andrews has been cast in a new British series, entitled Sinbad, that is based on the iconic mythological character but given a modern twist.

Neighbours to have first gay couple

Neighbours will have its first ever gay couple on the series later this year when a former Home and Away actor join the cast as a love interest for an existing character. While there have been gay characters on the soap in the past, as far as a couple is concerned it is a first for Neighbours.

NBC wins My Name is Earl lawsuit

NBC bosses have won a lawsuit against a writer who claims he created the concept for My Name Is Earl. The man sued the network back in 2008 after he alleged the sitcom was ripped off a script called Karma he wrote and shopped around to TV networks in 1995.

Former NSYNC member Lance Bass has announced plans for a new boyband reality series. Bass has gathered together a judging panel made up of former members of boybands such as Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block and NSYNC.

Jersey Shore cast hold out for more pay

The cast of MTV reality series Jersey Shore will reportedly earn their highest salaries yet in the show’s fifth season after holding out for more pay. The network was attempting to sign them on the same contracts as the fourth season but lawyers for the cast members refused negotiations unless they were redrawn under new terms.
