Leading TV company Eyeworks New Zealand is on the hunt for stories for a groundbreaking new series that will try to solve ordinary Kiwis’ personal or family mysteries.

Eyeworks is the company behind TV3’s award-winning reunion show Missing Pieces, and other popular shows like The Secret Lives of Dancers and My House My Castle.

It’s now turning its attention to the personal or family mysteries many Kiwis carry around in their hearts and minds, hoping to one day find answers to, but never sure how or when they might find them. Continue reading »

Leonard Nimoy has been linked with a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory. The Star Trek actor has long been the hero of Jim Parson’s character Sheldon.

Lloyd joins US remake

Christopher Lloyd has been cast in the US remake of classic British comedy series Only Fools and Horses. The actor will play the grandfather of Del Boy, who is played by John Leguizamo.

Misfits adds three new characters

Three new regular characters will be introduced to UK drama series Misfits, to replace the departing Iwan Rheon and Antonia Thomas, who play Simon and Alisha respectively.

Arquette joins new comedy pilot

David Arquette has boarded new comedy pilot The Smart One to play the husband of Malin Akerman’s character. Former Arrested Development actress Portia de Rossi will also feature in the pilot, which has Ellen DeGeneres on its production team.

Sons of Anarchy game planned

A Sons of Anarchy video game is under discussion according to the show’s creator Kurt Sutter. “Soon to be taking meetings about an SOA game,” he tweeted. “Have a major gaming company interested. Trying to figure out costs, platform and timing.To do a quality platform-based game costs tens of millions and takes years. We’re toying with the idea of a high-end browser-based game.”

Lawrence cast in comedy pilot

Martin Lawrence will feature in a new comedy pilot about a man who loses his job in construction before pursuing a career in the police force.

Pullman and Snow join 1600 Penn

Bill Pullman and Brittany Snow have joined a new comedy pilot called 1600 Penn. The White House comedy will see Pullman playing the President with Snow playing his eldest daughter.

Tomlin cast in new pilot

Damages actress Lily Tomlin has been cast in the new pilot for ABC called Malibu Country. The comedy will focus on a recently divorced mother who must raise her children while working to reignite her singing career.

Levi lands new pilot role

Chuck actor Zachary Levi has landed a role in a new half-hour comedy pilot for the Fox network called Let It Go.

Spartacus actor joins True Blood

Spartacus actor Peter Mensah has joined the cast of True Blood for a recurring role. Mensah plays rebel slave Oenomanus in the Spartacus series.

Curry joins Kevin Bacon pilot

Twilight actress Valorie Curry has landed a role in the new Kevin Bacon serial killer drama pilot. Curry has also featured in the likes of Fringe and Veronica Mars.

Dexter actor to play Sherlock

Former Dexter actor Jonny Lee Miller has landed the lead role in a new American drama pilot that centres on the cases of Sherlock Holmes. The pilot is described as a modern-day New York take on the cases of the fames detective.

McCartney’s music on Mad Men

Paul McCartney has signed a deal to allow music from his new album to feature in Mad Men. There is also talk of a possible cameo in the show.

Clarkson in trouble again

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson is in the firing line again after comments regarding “people with growths on their faces”. British charity Changing Faces has condemned Clarkson’s comments saying they help fuel a “culture of ridicule and bullying” against people with unusual facial features.

John Stamos has been confirmed to play one of the lead roles in a new comedy pilot for the Fox network called Little Brother. Stamos will be joined by comedian T.J. Miller in the pilot.

PETA criticises Luck

Animal rights group PETA has criticised new HBO series Luck after two horses were put down during filming of the racing drama, which stars Dustin Hoffman. The horses fell during filming of race sequences and were euthanized.

Grohl developing comedy series

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is developing a new half-hour comedy series alongside comedian Dana Gould. The series will revolve around a rock band on the verge of making it.

Culinary reality show Top Chef has been renewed for a tenth season by the Bravo network. Host Padma Lakshmi will be returning.

Kevin Bacon close to joining new series

Kevin Bacon is being lined up to feature in a new serial killer pilot from the showrunner of The Vampire Diaries. Bacon is in negotiations to play the “good guy” in the new drama.

Rudd to guest in Parks and Rec

Paul Rudd has been confirmed to be making an appearance in Parks and Recreation as an opponent for Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope. He will feature in at least one episode.

Goodfellas project confirmed

A TV series based on the 1990 gangster movie Goodfellas is officially in the works. The project will be written by Nicholas Pileggi, who penned the original screenplay for the Robert De Niro movie.

Poehler to direct episode

Actress Amy Poehler will step behind the camera to direct an episode of Parks and Recreation. Poehler, who plays Leslie, also wrote the episode that she will be directing as well as starring in.

Darabont working on new drama

Frank Darabont has signed on to write and direct a new drama project called L.A. Noir. Darabont, who directed The Shawshank Redemption and recently developed zombie series The Walking Dead, will oversee the pilot that will centre on the war between the LA police chief and mobster Mickey Cohen.

Actors returning to The Good Wife

A number of former Good Wife actors, including Amy Sedaris and Parker Posey, have signed on to return to the series for an episode this year.

Schreiber joins drama pilot

Liev Schreiber has been cast in a new drama pilot for the Showtime network called Ray Donovan. Schreiber plays the title character who is a “fixer” for the rich and famous in LA.

Michael Jackson theme for The X Factor USA

This week’s theme for The X Factor USA has been confirmed as Michael Jackson. The remaining seven acts will all perform tracks by the King of Pop.

China gets it right

China has announced it will be banning broadcasters from placing advertisements in the middle of TV dramas in an effort to attract more viewers. The ban will begin in 2012 and will apply to all dramas that run for 45 minutes or more.

Doctor Who to film in Australia?

Rumours are suggesting that the BBC may be looking to film episodes of Doctor Who in Australia next season. Several episodes were shot on location in the US this year.

No big changes for American Idol

American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has said that he doesn’t anticipate any major changes on the new season of the singing competition. “I think we made a lot of tweaks last year. I’m not sure that we want to make too many more tweaks this year,” he said.
