Someone found a tape from September 7, 1990 featuring various shows including The Price is Right, The Noozles, Think Fast, and Double Dare.  Better (or worse…) the commercials.  Full 4 hours, it is a great way to see how far we’ve come with our tastes and expectations in some ways, and how we have hardly progressed in others.  If you haven’t got time now, bookmark this page.

Chart-topping, six-time Grammy Award-winning megastars and kid faves The Black Eyed Peas will be rocking the house live, performing a medley of their hits at Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards.

This year’s U.S. show will take place in LA and be fast-tracked hot off the satellite to broadcast to the kids of New Zealand the same day on Sunday April 3 at 6.30pm, exclusive to Nickelodeon.

Loved by kids all over the globe, the Black Eyed Peas won the blimp award as voted by Aussie kids at the Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in October last year for Fave International Band.

Joining BEP and recently announced show host Jack Black for the must-watch slime-fest this year will be the biggest names in movies, television and sports – Jason Segel (Bad Teacher), Russell Brand (Hop), Josh Duhamel(Transformers: Dark of the Moon), Damon Wayans (My Wife and Kids), Jaden Smith (The Karate Kid), Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), Jane Lynch (Glee), Lindsey Vonn (Olympic Gold Medalist), Nick Cannon (America’s Got Talent, TeenNick Halo Awards), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), Victoria Justice (Victorious), Danica Patrick (American auto racing driving), Rico Rodriguez (Modern Family), Cory Monteith (Glee) and Shaun White (Olympic Gold Medalist) – who are all slated to present at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. “There is no better way to celebrate the year’s flagship TV event for kids than with a medley by first-time KCA performers The Black Eyed Peas,” said Marjorie Cohn, President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group and Executive Producer of the show. “The larger-than-life energy they will deliver on the stage will make for an unforgettable evening.”

The Black Eyed Peas –, Fergie, Taboo and – have always been considered innovators ever since emerging out of the West Coast underground rap scene in the 1990s, evolving into one of the most popular contemporary pop and R&B groups in the world. To date, they have sold 29 million records worldwide (plus over 30 million digital tracks), three million tickets and headlined over 300 different tour dates in 29 different countries.

Their recently released sixth full-length album, The Beginning taps into the dance-club energy perfected on their 2009 album, The E.N.D., with a sophisticated pop and electronic music palette. The E.N.D sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and entered the Billboard Top 200 Chart at number-one outperforming their previous album, Monkey Business. It yielded five Top 10 singles (the first album to do so in 20 years), spent an entire year in the Billboard Top 200 Chart and earned the group three new Grammy Awards, bringing their total to date to six Grammy Awards.

Kids can vote for the U.S. KCA’s online at in a total of 20 categories. Surprise awards also will be announced during the show. Votes can also be cast via the Nick mobile website and through a brand-new iPhone application. For the first time ever, KCA voting will be extended to an iPad-optimized site,, and the Nickelodeon Facebook page,

Leading up to the show, viewers can access clips and photos from past Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on, along with dedicated information pages on the host and nominees, digital Fan Kits, a KCA news blog, behind-the-scenes video of stars prepping for the KCAs, daily polls, quizzes and two new KCA-themed online games.

Last year, Nickelodeon’s 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards hosted by Kevin James slimed its way to stand as the second biggest US KCAs ever in the show’s 23-year history, averaging 7.6 million total viewers (P2+.) The star-studded telecast scored the most votes in the show’s history—a record 118 million votes were cast. The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is broadcast in more than 300 million households globally on Nickelodeon channels around the world.

The deadline for Kiwi kids to get their entries into Nickelodeon’s Camp Orange for the first time ever is closing in so get cracking to enter!

Camp Orange is the TV show that takes pairs of best friends away for a real-life Nickelodeon adventure. It focuses on positive fair play with teams competing for cool prizes along the way but ultimately aiming to be voted for the title of ‘Champ Orange’ by their peers.

This multiple award-winning show has screened in Australia for the last six years.   It is the first time the show will screen in New Zealand and the first time Kiwis have been able to enter.

The competition is open to kids aged 10-13 years with valid passports.  Nickelodeon will transport teams to Camp Orange and back from anywhere in New Zealand.  Last year over 2000 entries were received.

Four teams of pairs of best friends compete a series of tasks over three days at Camp Orange in the Australian outback.  The show’s hosts Luke and Wyatt direct the contestants through the challenges such as hitting floating bullseye targets with sandbags while on a flying fox, travelling up a slime-covered plastic mat while tethered to a bungee cord to collect letters to form a winning word, or collecting floating cubes while travelling down a river in a dinghy.

Then there are the Wrong Town Dinner challenges where the day’s winning team can score points by consuming weird food combinations such as tuna milkshakes or banana and anchovy sushi, or they can nominate another team to eat these scary concoctions!

Teams tackle the rugged outdoor terrain in Australia and get plenty dirty without playing dirty.

How to enter:

Kiwi kids need to get their skates on and film a three minute video telling Nickelodeon who they are, why they’re great mates, perform a trick, film themselves yelling ‘Camp Orange rocks!’ in a really public place and explain why they love Nickelodeon.

Once they’ve made the video they need to fill out the entry and parent permission forms and send with a photo of themselves to:
