August (Eion Bailey) promises to enlighten Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and take her on a journey that will show her how she can beat Regina (Lana Parilla), and possibly take custody of Henry (Jared Gimore); and with Mary Margaret (Ginniger Goodwin) returning to work, Regina puts a plan in motion to seduce David (Josh Dallas).

Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, with the Evil Queen’s (Parilla) curse about to strike, Geppetto (Tony Amendola) agrees to a plan that will save Snow White (Goodwin) and Prince Charming’s (Dallas) daughter, but with a proviso that could also save his own son.

The plot thickens when the creator of all things dark and wicked, Cora (Barbara Hershey, Black Swan) emerges in the dangerous world of Once Upon A Time.

Emma (Jennifer Morrison) continues her exhaustive search for evidence that will prove Mary Margaret’s (Ginnifer Goodwin) innocence in the murder of David’s (Josh Dallas) wife, Kathryn (Anastasia Griffin).

Meanwhile, in the fairy-tale land that was and before evil blackened her soul, Regina (Lana Parilla), soon to become The Evil Queen, must choose between betraying her mother, Cora, by marrying for true love, or betrothing royalty and living a regal – but loveless – life. Plus, the event that caused the Evil Queen (Parilla) to become bitter and hateful is revealed.

The show’s executive producer, Edward Kitsis, hints that the Evil Queen’s mother shaped her into the malicious force she is today. “Girls say they’ll never grow up to be like their mothers, but evil comes from somewhere”.

If you thought the mother from Black Swan was a force to be reckoned with, wait until you meet Cora. “Cora would look at the mother from Black Swan and think she was weak”, says Kitsis.

As the next few episodes explore the Evil Queen’s childhood and explore her relationship with her mother, present relationships and struggles become clear. “You will finally find out why the Evil Queen hates Snow White,” Kitsis admits.
