Shonda Rhimes has announced via Twitter that Private Practice will come to an end after season six: “There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line..It’s rare for a show to go for more than 100 episodes and we are incredibly proud to have been such a show. And we’re grateful to all of you for spending time with us for an hour every week for the last 6 years. It’s meant the world. Thank you.”

Lives and relationships are put under the microscope as the doctors find themselves at odds with each other in the brand new season of Private Practice.

It takes several of the doctors to save Pete’s life after he suffers a crippling heart attack. Though he pulls through, he has unresolved anger and anxiety and Violet is unavailable when he needs her most.

Addison and Sam (Taye Diggs) continue their relationship; but Addison becomes increasingly unsure about whether she wants Sam to be the father of her child.

Meanwhile, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) struggles with sobriety; and Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) and Coop (Paul Adelstein) work on being newlyweds.

To make matters even more complicated, Jake Reilly (Benjamin Bratt) the handsome stranger who invited Addison to Fiji unexpectedly turns up in her life again.

Mums to guest on NCIS: Los Angeles
